Mitch Trubisky

If you want Ryan Tannehill production then sign Mitch Turbisky. That’s his ceiling imo.

A while back I did a stat comparison between MT and Zach Wilson from college perspective. MT played in about as QB-friendly a system as any QB that year (or any year for that matter). His completion percentage was still significantly lower than Wilson. His downfield accuracy was significantly lower. His downfield attempts (if I’m remembering correctly) were lower.

Trubisky got over drafted and misevaluated by the Bears. He’d be the 4th or 5th rated QB in this class imo if he was coming out this year behind Lawrence, Wilson, Fields..then pundits would start splitting hairs between his “potential” and the potential of someone like Mac Jones or Trey Lance. But no....he’d be far far behind imo those top three guys.

There is an awful lot of stupid in this thread so it is nice to see some reason.

Trubisky is basically in the "only a little better than Teddy" category.

That said, he needs to come cheaply. Anything that isn't cheap or is more than 2 years is just repeating the mistakes of last offseason. Sign him to a reasonable backup QB contract, as that is what he actually is.

This right here...

He is way more bottom of the barrel than massive upgrade. If it came down to it, I would rather roll with what we have than take a guy like him, draft a QB you can develop and let them sit a year and learn.

Trubisky is not my favorite choice, or anybody's.

But with that said, does he have the potential for a Ryan Tannehill type turnaround? Maybe.

If we don't wind up with one of our primary targets, I'm okay with giving Trubisky a chance.

(mind you, my expectations would be low)

Said it in another thread, I'll say it here.  I think Trubisky is the next Tannehill.  Those two have eerily similar career trajectories.  People wrote them off because of their situation, instead of coldly assessing the facts.  Trubisky is 25-13 since his rookie year.  He's a 64% passer (higher since his rookie year).  He throws twice as many TD's as INT's.  Big arm.

Get him a good QB coach, and I bet he shows up as the real deal.  There's a player in there.

It is a dangerous path to think that your club and only your club can fix a player that has had more than enough time to succeed in NFL.

The Bears Oline has been slightly better or on par with our the last years. Their receiving weapons are at the same level. Maybe not just since we gotten Anderson.

I would rather get a young QB in the draft than spend any time on Trubisky

To be fair..I don;t think it has  been said that only the Panthers could "fix" Trubisky.

If I thought that Trubisky was likely to turn into Tannehill then my plan would be to sign him immediately upon the start of FA and pick the best LT or CB on the board at #8 and try to trade down if that plan didn't work out. 3800 yards with 33 TDs and 7 INTs? Yeah, sign me up for ALL of that.

I think it is entirely possible Trubisky would be the 6th or 7th best QB in this draft class. You have to remember that not only was he vastly over drafted by Chicago but at the time that was considered a very, very, very weak QB draft class.

Now, in hindsight, it had two of the biggest stars in the NFL at QB but I don't remember many getting excited about Mahomes as a prospect and Watson wasn't considered a very high caliber QB prospect either.

Raise your hand if the only reason you want to give Trubisky the benefit of the but is because of where he attended college.

Raise your hand if you have a poo ton of posts on the Huddle having never offered an actual opinion only posting to try to poo on people who are willing to actually contribute an opinion.
