You want me to drop you a pin?  It'll show you exactly where I've been swearing.

I swear to God this team continues to baffle me.

Said a couple days ago that it felt like we were about to do something stupid...I guess the Panthers just simply can't help themselves.

I kinda figured you wouldn't take kindly to this news.

Didn't like signing Shaq to begin with.  Hated signing CMC a year early.

Now we make the contracts worse...at two of the least valuable positions is all of football.

Almost feels like Marty's back.

When we have $100mil+ in cap room.

And how many contracts does that include?

It’s nothing more than “kicking the can down the road” that has put the Panthers(and many teams) in a mess. Acting like they just created the money out of thin air is disingenuous. Especially with the players that were done.  CMC is debatable because if healthy he has shown he is a top 3 player at his position. But now they have thrown more money at a poor contract for Shaq.

The Panthers could have had 100M in cap space right now if they didn’t try to build a 6 win team last year. And it seems that will be the strategy again for this year.

So we converted their sal towards the cap to signing bonuses.  We're not spreading out the contracts, just reallocating the now signing bonus to be spread over the remaining years.  And Shaq isn't bad, when it was him and Carter the D wasn't that bad.

He needs a guy helping elevate his play though.  He's an average to sometimes above average LB.

Not really upset but surprised that it looks like we're sticking w/Shaq.  Saves us another year before worrying about LB again.  We know what we get with him & this draft will be offense heavy.

Shaq good but Shaq paid like great. That why this bad.

It's baffling that so many blind homers can't understand this. Shaq is a decent starting LB. The issue is that he's paid to be one of the absolute best LBs in the NFL. He's nowhere close to that level. You don't solve that issue by converting non-guaranteed salary to guaranteed bonus. That's the last thing you want to do with that contract.

Shaq is a solid LB.  He isn't worth what we are paying him, but this isn't his fault.  I'm sure Huddlers would decline a big raise and promotion at their job if they weren't up to the task.

Anyone mad at Shaq for signing his contract simply isn't very intelligent. Same for Teddy. Both guys proved to be exactly what they had shown to be in the past. Anyone disappointed about their play after they got paid wasn't paying attention to their play before they got paid. The only thing that changed was their pay check and their cap hit.

    • We just need to invent a new formation where Bryce stands 15 yards behind the line of scrimmage and JJ Jansen plays center.
    • I mean it was when Donnelly was out there for two years. The rumor of Knicks getting a frozen envelope for patick ewing, among other stuff. Then there was giving the first pick which was the local choosen one lebron James to cleveland. The league/David stern found a buyer for the new orleans included gifting of the first pick, which was Antony Davis. As a hornet fan I remember he was 10000000000000000x the clear best player and the hornets drafted a role player without a jumper at #2 overall. Imagine Davis on the hornets, he would have changed the loser history for sure.   Many lotto felt fixed, or WERE fixed.  The thing is these smooth brain fans are like wrestling fans, they don't care just have drama/action/entrained/etc,   My issue is why would the other owners allow this? Sure money and all, but after billions millions don't matter as much....they want trophies, wins, and bragging rights among other owners. If I was a owner and we had one of those "secret" meeting and they go- "Bas we are giving the clear #1 pick Davis to new orleans and you get the #2 so be happy'. I'd put the team up for sale the nano second after that BS.  I felt the same, but I left the NBA mainly cause the games were boring and lazy until 2 minutes left in each quarter. All-star games became regular season games. Yes teams/coaches like spurs with pop, Larry brown, and pat Reilly played hard. Then add in Michael Jordan being the worst owner in history, it was easy to leave.
    • IMO his issues are fundamental and not personnel wise.  He is not going to overcome that in one off season
