Nobody thought all those other highly drafted OTs were gonna bust either. Remember Robert Gallery? He was supposed to be the best OT prospect in a looking time. Some don't even think Sewell is the best in this class. Yeah, Sewell is a very good prospect but better have busted.

Well sir! Here’s the deal! He’s allowed like 3 pressures in two years of division 1 Football. He protected Justin Herbert enough that even though he went back to school an extra year he didn’t need to he was still a top ten pick and not damaged goods. Did Robert Gallery protect Justin Herbert?! I THINK NOT!

All the prospects in every draft will be hyped up beyond belief.  Nature of things.  I don't think Sewell is all world by any means personally.  I think this is a poor draft overall and there will be busts all over that first round.  Just my opinion.

The reason there’s this hype with Sewell is the same reason for the hype around Pitts. It’s not just a matter of their build and work ethic, they have the stats to back up their tremendous hype. Tight ends the past handful of years have often been over drafted based on potential, not production. Pitts combined his potential with production two years in a row. He put up numbers in the equivalent of 6 games this year that are unheard of for a TE.

Sewell is the same for an LT.

Sewell (6-foot-6, 330 pounds, per school measurements) is a junior this fall. The Pac-12 was among the conferences that postponed the fall season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the league's plan to explore a spring football season still left Sewell with an opt-out choice to make. As a sophomore last year, Sewell became the first Oregon player to win the Outland Trophy as college football's top lineman. He played the left tackle position for UO with stellar pass protection, allowing no sacks over 926 snaps in 2019, and only one sack over 1,376 career snaps.

NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah recently scouted three game tapes of Sewell's from last season -- against Auburn, Stanford and USC -- and found him to be exceptional in both run blocking and pass blocking. Jeremiah compared Sewell to Tennessee Titans tackle Taylor Lewan, a 2014 first-round selection and three-time Pro Bowl selectee, and sees similar potential in Sewell.”

Its one thing to project how their bodies fit as pros. It’s another thing to see the potential on top of the production. A power 5 left tackle giving up in sack in two years is insane.

I don’t disagree that Sewell isn't the best OL in this draft.  Just saying anyone can bust for any number of reasons.

I have noticed that NFL Network in general paints a very favorable light on pretty much all prospects.  They are extremely positive with evals, which is fine, but that is the case.

We agree on this for sure, plus given QB contracts are 45+ million now........those rookie deals look even juicer now. Plus you can tag 3 years after a 5th year option.....thats still chicken feed compared to what would be 50 million per at that point. Seems no other QB besides Brady is willing to less, dont blame them one bit tho..

Brady doesn't play for money at this point, he hasn't needed too since he married Giselle she has more than triple his net worth which allows him to care more about his football legacy than the $$$ and taking less is good for the talent level of the rest of the team.

From Albert Breer's latest MMQB column, comments from two general managers and an offensive coach regarding Lance's workout, including a comparison to Justin fields...

General Manager 1: “He was really impressive. You look at him, you can feel his presence when you talk to him, and that’s a big thing for quarterbacks. And the ball just jumps off his hand. His deep ball was awesome, he has tremendous arm strength. His accuracy was a little hit-and-miss. But once you saw him get in a rhythm, he started hitting guys more consistently. He’s just a really talented guy. … This was a big day for him, and he handled it really well. He’s an impressive guy, he did a really nice job today. People might b---- that he threw high to this guy, or behind that guy, but you saw everything you needed to see physically.”

General Manager 2: “He looks the part. He’s a big, long athlete, has a good look in his eye. I like the poise he showed in the workout, when he missed a throw it didn’t faze him. The ball jumped off his hand. I think he helped himself. The arm looked strong on tape, and that checked out. He has a really good arm, not a Josh Allen arm, but really good. The workout was efficiently run. He missed some throws—his accuracy’s not elite for a high first-round guy, but neither was Josh Allen’s or Lamar Jackson’s. He’s gotta clean up some fundamentals. But he’s a really smart kid, he played in a pro offense, he can do that. He does lock on to his primary [receiver] at times. But the upside and makeup are there. He might have to modify something, but he’s got a chance to be really good.”

Offensive coach: “He threw it better than I expected. He didn’t show signs of the big loop you saw on tape. He tightened that up and it wasn’t forced, just watching him throw. He threw it really well. He’s got some stiffness, because he’s a big, muscular guy, but showed what he needed to. He misses throws, and there’s some of that because of the stiffness. I just think he gets tight in how he throws. But he, to me, looks like a more natural passer than Josh Allen did coming out. I was more worried more about Josh’s accuracy—and I was wrong on that. In comparison, a guy like [Justin] Fields is a more fluid athlete. This is more an overpowering athlete, not as smooth, just a big, strong, fast, physical guy.”

I’ve been telling y’all all year that he ran a pro style offense in every way in school. He’s going to be special.

Running a prostyle offense against guys who aren't good enough to even make an SEC team and playing 1 game in the last 400 days hardly is convincing he can master an NFL offense. He has a good arm but it takes a lot more than that to be a starting QB in the NFL. I could see us taking him at 8. I just wouldn't be trading first rounders for him.

It’s going to take him a long long time just to understand the speed of the game.  Then you have to factor in everything else.   I honestly don’t think San Fran wants to wait that long so I bet the pick is indeed Jones.
