It's happening. (Probably)

It’s extremely suspicious on multiple  levels.

But the fact remains. Who would trade for him right now and take on that PR disaster?

It’s over.

I would. They are only suits. They are not criminal charges. If you are not willing to put yourself at legal risks by involving the Police then whatever. I'm tired of people trying to destroy and ruin people's careers and lives over allegations presented in suits asking for money. If he put his penis on the lady then that is a crime. And if you have proof of that crime then involve the police so he is punished appropriately and others are protected. But trying to punish someone through public scrutiny and trying to give weight to them by adding others means nothing to me. We are seeing this all the time now and in most cases the person being accused is never proven to have done anything wrong. I'm personally sick of it. If he did it, go to police not the media.

The statement was about the team record 4 years before and after.

Your statement that "numbers are numbers, truth is truth" may be true, but that doesn't tell you how "well" drafting Watson worked out for them.  In the 15 years before drafting Watson, the team had 2 total seasons at or above 10 wins.  In the 4 seasons after drafting him - including 1 in which he played only 6 games - they had 2 seasons at or above 10 wins.

edit: put another way, as the full time starter, the Texans had 2 seasons of at least 10 wins out of 3.  That... is really good, especially given we're talking about *the Texans*, who were comically run for years.

I read somewhere that the Bears offered 3 1st round picks, a 3rd round, and 2 starters and Seattle turned them down. How much would Houston want for Watson and is Tepper so infatuated with Watson that he would approve such a deal? I hope Rhule and Fitterer have the balls to questions Tepper's "All-in on Watson, no matter what it takes" mentality.

That's a good point. The Panthers have shot themselves in the foot by publicly saying they are desperate to upgrade the QB position. Which was a very stupid thing to do. And Tepper made a worse mistake by letting it be known he is all in on Watson and wants him no matter what it takes. The Panthers have zero leverage in any trade talks. If I was the Texans' GM, my starting asking price would be three first round picks, two seconds including this years' pick, this year's third rounder, Burns, Brown, and Chinn. If I was feeling nice, I would let the Panthers negotiate to keep the third rounder and maybe next year's second. I would fleece or gut them for everything since they made stupid mistakes.

i can tell which posters are irresponsible sacks of poo in real life by how hyper-responsible they try to be with something they can not control.  aka "we would give up too much for Watson"

lol landing watson would be a franchise saving move.  you NEED an elite QB to win a SB.  we could spend the next decade with a loaded ass roster looking for that guy and never get there or win.

At this point, with most of the Teams already having their QBs in place for next season or have their money spent and with these suspicious allegations popping up, I highly doubt the Texans will have many, if any serious offers for Watson. If Carolina still want him I don't think they will have to compete with more than 1 or maybe 2 teams. I wouldn't be surprised if we were the only team at this point to be honest. The Texans will either have to take nothing and let him sit out or take our offer. 1st and 3rd 2021, 1st in 2022 and then depending on who is bidding too, maybe a 3rd in 2022 or in 2023. The Texans screwed up by being the Texans. They should have traded him 2 weeks ago with they would have had a bidding war probably. I think we spend 3 picks, max 4. Who do you think will offer them more than 2 1sts and a 3rd at this time? Denver? Doubt it, they are in Colorado. SF? Now? No way. NE? Maybe but I doubt it plus they'd have to do better than that top beat us. WFT? Now? No way. They don't even have a proper team name or cheerleaders. The Bears are waiting for Wilson next year. Who else is there? Who is going to outbid now?

Good points.  It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out.  The less they have to give up the better because it looks as if Tepper is hell bent in getting him.

    • The good news is that we are pretty uniquely well established to address all of our needs this season. We have $14m real cap space, and something like $40m in trade deadline cap space. Not sure exactly how that works out. But, we have the room to absorb any bad contracts. With recent rule changes regarding retention, that went into effect this season, we now have a huge advantage in the trade market.  On top of that, while we do have obvious needs, we also have a glut of talent in certain areas that we struggle to find ice time for. We are over-stocked on scrappy talented lil-guys, strong defensively sound 3rd liners and shutdown left shot dmen. Whether it's a package or separate deals, idk. But, one of each from Stank/Blake/Nads, Erob/Carrier/KK/Jank, and Walker/Nystrom; throw in some 1st round picks (and frankly any other prospects they want) and we should be able to come out with a 1b to pair with Bussi and either a 2c with size or a 2c and size.   TL/DR We got the money, you got the stuff?
    • I don’t  think 6’4 was ever considered small or undersized. Baby hands tho, yes that was his thing That’s an interesting idea, like an optical illusion? Sounds like you have personal experience with this!
    • in the 25' draft the Carolina Panthers had hired Brandt Tillis someone who actually understood how to build a successful team & build through the draft .  this team was yes mismanaged for years prior to Brandt Tillis joining the team in 25' & rarely done anything right in the draft outside occaionaly getting lucky on an UDFA such as Jalen Coker who's dad coincidentally happened to be a huge Carolina Panthers fan, hint hint  ...just saying
