With our current roster are going to run more 3-4?

Gross-Marks DE

Shaq ILB

Perriman ILB

Burns OLB

Reddick OLB

I think we will run all schemes depending on opposition.  We will have a very fast, athletic D.  Look for us to mix it up between 4-3, 3-4, and 3-5.

Yes, a strength of this staff is that they do not live and die with one way of doing things (on either side of the ball). Adjustments are made dependent on personnel, opponent, etc. I am excited about what the future holds once all the pieces are in place.

Unless you have all superstars, any decent QB can beat you when they know what your scheme is on defense and who's covering who. But when you can disguise coverages buy having guys who can play multiple ways and positions, you tilt the scale towards the defense by keeping the offense (QB) guessing. And that extra second of hesitation is why you have a good pass rush.

Gross-Matos is undersized to play 3-4 5 tech.

That's the problem with our stupid roster. Burns is too small for 4-3 5 tech and Matos is too small for 3-4

Why the hell can't we have 2 6'6 285lb 5s that can run 4.6?

Fng Washington has them.

Do what?

We signed a LBer that has a terrible injury history. Pretending he is going to be available is just fantasy. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PerrDe00.htm

If he contributes great! Just don't rely on him being available or building a D around him.

Roy should be the NT. Fox will probably be an OLB.

Nah my friend, Fox is a 3, or a 5 tech on the DL. Burns, and Reddick as the OLB's in an Odd front, Matos has experience in a 2pt stance, then add in Haynes / Miller / Luvu as depth on the edge of the front 7.

Honestly, they've got a lot to prove that we can put together a good defense, much less a great one.

First year, coaching gets a pass.

Second year, we need to see a defensive identity emerge, something besides "do what you want to but leave us alone!"

We were one of the worst defenses in the league last season with our stats being just a bit polished by that shut out of a broken down and dejected Detroit squad.

    • The lack of discipline has seriously been our downfall the last month. Seems like we just went off course this last month and Lee won't address it. You can't just live and die by the 3 when you can attack the paint and at worst draw a foul
    • Great season regardless of what happens. From starting out 4-14 to ending 44-38 is incredible progress and future is bright from here. I do think we can beat the Heat and then win on the road against either Orlando or Philly assuming Embiid doesn’t miraculously return sooner. But if not, a higher draft pick is nice too
    • I know a DT that's asking for a trade: 🤔 maybe a home discount can be worked out. Dan Morgan could create up to $80 million in space through restructures of stars like Derrick Brown, Jaycee Horn, or Taylor Moton. They could also include players like Tershawn Wharton ($18.6M cap hit) in the trade to balance the salaries. Carolina Receives: DT  Dexter Lawrence II New York Receives: 2026 2nd Round Pick (No. 51 Overall): A premium Day 2 selection that fits the for  Lawrence  after his 0.5-sack season in 2025. WR  Xavier Legette : A young, high-upside receiver who provides the playmaking depth HC John Harbaugh needs for his offense. 2026 4th Round Pick: Immediate mid-round value. 2027 4th Round Pick (via MIN): Future capital acquired in the  Adam Thielen  trade.  ----- Stone Forsythe* (another young player as a potential trade option)provides immediate offensive line retooling for HC John Harbaugh.    John Harbaugh's history in Baltimore proves he values draft volume over individual superstars.    Just my 2cents
