Your rhetorical question answers itself when you consider the full range of alternatives available to this young man.  A shame he didn't have someone like Tony Dungy counseling him on life choices.

Two things....

1 - John McClain, though connected and respected, has projected every different angle of this franchise and his knowledge has flip flopped so many times. No way the Texans trade Watson, some teams have inquired, Texans would trade Watson.....so on and so on. To call him a puppet would be doing him a favor. 

2 - At least our franchise is in no way near the condition of the Texans' front office. A dumpster fire is putting it lightly. The future is dark in Houston and this is a 4-5 year recovery, not a 2 or 3 year project.

I think there is a lot of players/coaches/owners with skeletons in their closet. I can only imagine what Robert Kraft was doing in his Florida rub n tug. The cynical side of me says Watson disturbed the order of things and powerful people didn't have his back anymore.
