This. Getting more and more exited about the possibility we might actually get to draft Sewell. If he's as good as advertised, we could have a pretty solid line next year, especially if the defensive free agents mean they also pick up a quality guard prospect in later rounds. Solid oline and quality offensive weapons give you your best chance to find out what you have in Darnold without ifs ands or buts.

This is what I want, but not at 8, I want it at 9.

My dream scenario is that one of the QB's falls to us at 8 and we can bluff a Patriots trade to swap spots with Denver, so we still get our LT (please god let it be Sewell), save a little money on the rookie contract with it one spot later, and still pick up another pick or two in the process for the swap.

If Penei is gone then I'd like to trade down. Even after trading down a few spots there will still be several very good OT prospects. I think Slater will fall out of the top 10. It's just too tempting to get that extra pick with the amount of talent in this draft and our laundry list of needs.

It’s on the table as in, Carolina will pretend it might take a QB to drive up the price of the 8th pick and/or inspire teams to trade ahead of them to take QBs and push talent down the board, but you can take it to the bank that Carolina is not drafting any of the QBs that can or will realistically fall to #8. Not happening.

I’m 100% with you on this. The Falcons are dangling that pick for the highest bidder. Our best chance was at 5 at who knows if the Bengals even wanted to trade and who would even be available then (Mac Jones scary thought). We locked up our backup plan so we don’t have to mortgage our future on a rookie QB who may not be the answer... If Fields falls to us, I really hope we draft him. Denver won’t hesitate to right behind us. If one doesn’t fall then we were right and will roll the dice with Sammy D.

I would say he is the best LT prospect in a few years, to me.

Imo if we did draft him you slide Moton to LT and let Sewell start at RT. Just like Gross did his first year. He will still play a good bit of speed rushers but not have to protect the blind side. Darnold has the ability to slide pretty well. That's one of his best abilities. Moton definitely can lock down any side he's on. His strength though allows him to stymie bull rushes better than most though so he's a great RT. You also have Paradise who is a really good signal caller in the middle so that helps Darnold even more. Brady definitely could run his system a lot better with 3 anchors.

Slater does have short arms at 33"

However, Sewell's arms are only 1/4" longer at 33.25"

That's funny! I just assumed they were like three feet the way a lot of people are talking. Sewell is young and athletic and hasn't reached his ceiling. I heard one scout say that they don't see how Slater can get much better (which was supposed to be a negative). I don't know about that, but Slater looks better to me right now, and I know there's still room for improvement.

      Oh please with the wallowing in victimhood I'm going to take my ball and go home routine. You were just in here referring to people as super weird haters because they don't completely agree with your borderline delusional spin on what Bryce Young is and isn't as a fourth year starter. We can hope by some miracle that Bryce Young will actually be able to lead a formidable passing offense this season without being irrational homers and pretending verfiable data and what we have seen with our own two eyes doesn't tell us exactly what he has been to this point which is someone who moves the ball at a historically low rate.

      I say positive things about Bryce when he earns them. Which he has a handful of times. It is all here and on the record but your lobby won’t focus on that or the flat out truth inside of our critical comments.  It is a constant thing with him and his backers - one or two good things and people are trying to extrapolate that to proof we should commit to him, while ignoring or making excuses for the larger portion of his track record.  When he is able to consistently turn in franchise QB extension worthy outings the tone of the posts will reflect that.  I have already said that if he would play like he did in the WC as often as we need him to, I would be okay with keeping him.  See you don’t want to talk about that though because it shows actual fair minded evaluation not stanning.
