Obviously he failed Speech 101.

That's funny that you said that.  I couldn't help reflect to my time in college and speech 101.

I kept thinking good god you know and um.

Public speaking class was great for removing ummm as a conversational crutch for a lot of kids.

Yeah while U nerds were polishing your Public speaking skills in the mirror Darnold was throwing lasers 🤷‍♂️

Also every athlete does this in some form. Hockey players are the worst

True.

While Darnold certainly wasn't hired for his Q&A prowess, he should have enough money squirreled away by now to afford a public speaking coach.  If I were Tepper, I'd hire one for him ASAP.  Shouldn't take too much effort to clean up his verbal pauses and it would make his press conferences a lot less painful to endure.

I think every QB the Panthers have ever had were painful to watch in one way or another. I don’t think Darnold was any less. He’s 23, becoming an adult will help.

    • thats the thing, blank clearly is out of it and they made the pick without telling him.  Thats how its set up in atl.  Here not so much
    • yeah, I think that side sort of emerged at the end of the prior year too and just stuck.  The Gamecock game specifically.  Didn't he have to apologize for saying too much after Dabo botched that one on trick plays and stuff?  But I mean, I think he was right.  Not that you want your player saying the correct thing publicly lol.   Think he just got frustrated Clemson could of won more games than they did....if it was just about that and not trying to develop DJ and then Cade.  I mean, I do think running and grinding out Shipley/the ground game and playing D....probably could of won some of those losses.  and that CJ Spiller incident on the sideline is a legit dislike moment this past year.   And I largely ding most guys hard for those type things.  Which I probably give him a pass on.  end of the day, I just want a natural pass catcher in the backfield and to round out the backfield better.  I forget about Trotter in this draft.  I do think if a Tiger is signed, it's a front 7 guy.  Just like fearing them overdrafting Shipley.  Part of me worries about Ruke.
    • Blank? I’m not a fan of owners being overly involved in draft day decisions, that’s what you hire the GM for, but you should at least be involved enough to veto a decision like this if it is something you would be “furious” over. Also, they knew they were doing this before the draft. The first 7 picks played out pretty much exactly how everybody thought they would. This couldn’t have been a surprise. I don’t know if I’m buying that Blank didn’t know what was going on. Maybe just trying to play good guy with Cousins to keep him on board.
