Here’s a little nugget for your Friday. The Stanford double-dip.

tbh this sounds like someone who's close to those particular players getting told they were in consideration in the next few rounds AND that the Panthers were thinking of trading down in the 2nd. not necessarily that they were the primary target at any particular spot.

if the Panthers are considering trading down to pick a specific player rather than from a range/short-list of players, then they are going to play themselves. if you have one player in mind, just pick them. trading down with the idea of getting a specific player will get you in trouble very quickly. something tells me the Panthers have a better plan than that.

From some articles I have read (and also Mock Drafts) Mills was actually by some as an late 1st rounder/Early 2nd. Some have stated that a team like Tampa Bay or New Orleans or even Pittsburgh might had picked him in the 1st so I really don't see him, Trask, or Mond lasting very long in the 2nd. So it is very plausible that we could look at Mills with the 2nd round.

There are some studs at the top of the second, so I would be interested to see him trade down from a top S or WR and bypass the OTs to try this.

Walker is the type who could be all over the place on team  boards.

However, a developmental QB with upside is not a bad idea in this situation, should Darnold not work out. Mills was said to have come out a year too early. High school rankings do not mean squat, but neither does using an isolated incident to disprove a concept.

Just heard from a source that the Panthers have made some calls about acquiring an additional second round pick, or an extra early 3, depending on how the chips start falling. Rumor has it that we’d like to double dip for Stanford’s Walker Little and Davis Mills. If one or both don’t work out we’re expected to go OL and WR next.

I agree we may try and trade up for Little. Mills not so much.

Look at our QB room:  Darnold, Walker, Grier, Stevens - this room pisses excellence.

Grier was a Hurney

Walker wasn't drafted

Stevens was a meme draft pick by the Saints because there was rumor (which I guess was true) that Brady and the Panthers liked him for Wildcat looks

and then Darnold who was drafted and has looked like a QB2.

I am not advocating taking Mills in the 2nd, but I wouldn't mind taking a look at him in the late 3rd or 4th rounds. (I don't even know what picks we have in the 3rd BTW)

If we want a sleeper qb from Stanford, look a KJ Costello. Graduated at Stanford, transferred to Mississippi State, set an SEC record for passing yards vs LSU and then disappeared after a couple of bad showings. A lot of that was on the new Air Raid offense being installed and lack of offensive help. Great arm, but questionable instincts. Will be there in the 6th when you are taking a flyer on guys anyway. Best part is it requires no draft capital to be given away.

I don’t have team specific info but if I had to guess we’re talking about our old friends Marty and Ron here.

I am guessing what is being discussed is trading WFT #39 and 222 for picks 51 and 74. We slide down a bit in the second but get back to back third rounders at 73 and 74. We could then pair those to move back up again or stand pat and get three guys we want.

At this point that is my best guess. There is still a lot of things that have to land just right. Plus it could be another team.
