REPORT: No movement in Panthers’ talks w/ Taylor Moton

Absolutely nobody "thinks" that Taylor "wants to sign three separate tags".

Even two is a stretch. He would have to have an agent advising him worse than whoever was representing Josh Norman in 2016. If Carolina can't get him to play left and they are keen on publicly questioning his value in comparison to his peers they are only hurting themselves in this process.

He was tagged twice but bolted in free agency to the Vikings where he got a big 3 year deal.

Thought they reached the end for tagging. He completely played the system/game the right way, hot super rich as a result too. Funny I always thought was in the Teddy group far as QB talent, but I seen he was 5th in TDs since joining the viking.....waaay higher than I thought.

What are the odds that maybe Coach Rhule and Scott Fitterer don’t think Moton is worth the money he’s asking for and Brady Christensen is the long term plan at RT? I’m not saying I agree with this but does anyone else think this is a possibility?

Heard a few minutes of Polian tonight on Sirius NFL radio.  Said...1)nothing gets done without a deadline and expects contracts to go down to the wire and also...2)with the tags being so high today....agents are advising their clients to take the tag if they are not getting what they want.  Player taking the risk of course.  If it goes that way not too concerned.

I have no problem whatsoever with 3.

Norman's agent didn't understand easily Jerry Richardson could devolve into a fit of pique, unfortunate situation.

I've seen no public comments whatsoever from the Panthers questioning Moton in any way, nothing improper going on that would hurt  their negotiating position.

If Moton is going to switch to LT seems to me he would want to play under the tag...

...if he proves he can do it there's a bigger pot of dough at the end of that particular rainbow.

Unless he wants that kind of money now, which would explain why there is no deal yet…

Deadline is 4pm today.

Mind you, even if they do get a deal done by then it might not be announced immediately. Sometimes the announcement comes a little later in the day.

I am still betting on him signing something.  Damn that is a huge gamble when you are leaving 60+ million on the table.

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.

    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
