That seems odd all the way around

I haven't seen anything of Philly but I'm guessing they either don't like their backups or Hurt hasn't nailed down the starting job.

I suspect Urban doesn't want legit competition for Lawrence.

It's a very, very cheap deal though.

Easily. fug, even if you don't think he can beat out Darnold he is DEFINITELY better than PJ or Will.

Goddamn. Get in on that deal, Fit.

Exactly,  I understand the worry about the idea of a qb controversy but Rhule could have stomped that out pretty quick by firmly stating that Darnold is the qb.  Minshew would have been a much better option over PJ or Grier.

We should have offered the same. Has Jacksonville been a better team the last two years than the Jets? Minshew is basically at 63% completions, 38 touchdowns to 11 interceptions with a team actively trying to suck around him.

If Jacksonville would have moved him during the draft I am sure they could have pulled a third or fourth for him. Instead he got to eat some of Lawrences reps with the 1s and the trade him away anyway to avoid conflict in the locker room.

I'm fine with a QB controversy. That doesn't phase me. I just want to be better as a team. I am not seeing how jettisoning a 5th or 6th round conditional pick is not great value for a top flight backup QB.

How do you know Fitt wasn't in on it?  Just because we didn't land him doesn't mean we didn't at least inquire.  That's being in on every deal.

Most likely they would have put a waiver claim on him at least if he'd been cut and cut PJ.  Meaning He and Will would battle for #2 for now.

If so, how do you manage to bid lower than a fuging conditional 6th????

Doesn’t mean Rhule isn’t going to be asked about it weekly.  See it in the papers.  Hear about it.  He doesn’t want that.

and to date, Menshew has been the more impressive QB.
