One week out until we see how Darnold's going shape up against the 1's.

The Jets new coach Robert Saleh, former 49ers defensive coordinator, previously faced off with Sam Darnold in 2020 when Sam was a member of the Jets.

and before anyone complains it's from a Jets perspective, let's remember they are just as knowledgeable about Sam as we are about Cam...and I just found this link wondering when was the last time Sam Darnold went up against Robert Saleh's Defense.*about to read it now*

Last time Darnold faced Saleh's Defense, and this time Darnold's has the upper hand. He did just inherited a better Offense, while Saleh inherited a worst Defense.

To me, those numbers should go up, correct, and look even with the Jets he didn't throw an Int.

He does show flashes, between the 20's, but in the Redzone, his decision making skills come to a halt. Best way to fix the RZ issues, hey, let's go get the one QB who's has the worst track record:

To paraphrase...

On 4 & 1, when asked do you stick to what's called or do you have the ability to audible?

I just stick to what's called-Darnold

So Darnold against the 1's.

    • Yep, the Panthers powers that be seem desperate to convince themselves he can clear the bare minimum bar of demanding a legit franchise QB contract. Canales seems to be laying the groundwork here of building the case that all of Bryce's shortcomings are still there and even more glaring than you may have thought while his strengths aren't nearly as strong as you had hoped and aren't near enough to make up for the lack of pure physical tools. When you have historically anomalous lack of measurables you need historically anomalous positive intangibles to make up for it. That was always issue with Bryce as a prospect. Like Parcells said when evaluating him, "he better walk on water".
    • I'm honestly not sure how much "west coast" plays into it. There's a huge difference between Tucson, AZ and Spokane, WA where he spent the previous two decades of his career. Chapel Hill is significantly different than Spokane but way more similar to it than Tucson. You're talking about a pretty significant plane ride to get back home either way. He and his family would be flying private and direct so we're talking about a 3ish hour flight vs. a 5ish hour flight. That's basically a wash. It's not like he went from Gonzaga to another PNW program. Tucson is a dramatic departure from Washington state. Honestly a far bigger departure climatically and scenery wise than Chapel Hill would be.
