agreed, but that said, rhule making them re-punt with a kicker and then sticking moore back there for that particular return was awesome coaching regardless of the result

Yeah, tactically it was a big brain move. Too bad Amendola turned into a pro bowl punter out of nowhere.

I was just waiting for the short, chopped kick, chaos on the field and DJ running it back to the 10. Who in their right mind would have imagined the rookie PK for the frikkin' Jets comes out for his first time on an NFL field and booms a 50 yard punt perfectly?

Ammendola was out there, available at the start of this offseason (he couldn't find a team last year). Somehow he was missed in our search. Go figure.

That was nuts. He was punting the poo out of the ball.

Its the type of poo that seems to happen to the Panthers. Remember the ole "its just the backup QB". Then each time that backup would have literally the best game of their career then and going forward...like wtf

That was a really smart coaching decision.

it’s a shame he followed it up with some very questionable ones

We should consider plucking Dazz Newsome off of the Bears' practice squad. Solid punt returner and slot WR. Very similar to Shi Smith actually. I had them graded virtually identically.

I feel like Dazz is better than Shi for PR as I saw Shi mostly just be solid as KR at USC. Both of them would be great speedsters at the bottom of the WR room on offense. I feel like if a guy can't get you something though, he shouldn't be back there and the kid yesterday was a big non threat. Go get one.

I don't think Shi Smith ever returned punts at SC.

Newsome would seem an ideal fill in for Smith while he's out and a better practice squad WR than our current ones once Smith is back.

    • Do you see the vision?  As of now our Carolina Panthers don’t have an identity. We are not an offensive powerhouse and on defense we only started getting it together towards the end of the year last year. In my opinion we are much closer to having an incredible defense that scares the daylights out of people. I say the answer is simple and we fully commit to that possible identity.    Emmanuel McNeil Warren (E man)  This guy is like a shark lurking around ready to attack anyone. Fearless. He is easily a top 20 talent in my eyes, and the only reason he isn’t more talked about is because he’s from Toledo. Do your due diligence as panther fans and watch his tape I beg you. Once you’re done watching let me ask you this, if you dropped E - Man into the strong safety spot on the Buckeyes, he isn’t being talked about as one of the best prospects we’ve seen in some time given the skill set you see with this guy? I think so. Put his name on the card and turn it in at 19.    Jacob Rodriguez  High effort, High energy, High IQ guy that flies around the field. We all know Jacob at this point. My only concern is he’s a little bit too good and I’m not sure he makes it to us at our pick in the second. With the additions of Jacob and E- Man I think our defense goes to top 5 in the league. We would have a duo of linebackers that rival anything we’ve had in our past. I’m not a GM so I don’t know what the possible answer could be, but if there’s a way we can comfortably trade up in the second to secure this guy I think we find a way to do it.    Spend the rest of our picks fixing the O - line.    Thoughts Panthers fans? Who’s the ideal duo for yall?
    • OL is arguably much more important to the success of a young QB. (Or any QB)
    • Didn’t get around to watching this one but looks like Pistons played their starters and actually tried…? Unlucky that they sit vs Magic, etc and try vs us. Hopefully we can beat the Heat and then Magic or 6ers with no Embiid. BUT if not, the NBA really should give us the lottery win this year like they did Mavs last year. Another high pick could be our final missing piece and have us as legit top contenders next year and going forward if we’re healthy. Or trade it for a Giannis type
