"You know what, they're closer than I thought they would be," Meyer said. "Brady's done a lot of good things, and when we first got Brady we didn't know if he'd be a tackle or a guard and I think he could be either. And we've been able to flip him both sides, play right and left, and he's done a nice job. He's got good feet, he's a smart kid, obviously he's a little older, as a (soon-to-be) 25-year-old rookie. So he's more mature and he gets it.

"And with Deonte, the big thing with him was to make sure he keeps his weight in check, and he's done that. He's done a great job, he's in the 330s now, back from when we saw him at the Senior Bowl and he was 364. But he's done a good job, and he wasn't one of those big guys who can't move. He's a quick-twitch kid who has a lot of good lower-body explosion. He's learning, they both are, the different techniques we teach. But I would say they're closer to being ready than they are farther away."

code for "the guys we thought were going to be good aren't so we might have to do something" ?

This way we can blame it on the rookies for not being ready instead of our choice of going with the wrong guy?

      Another thread where the Huddle melts down over a Bryce comment.  "Conversations" and "Bryce Young has been signed to a new long-term contract" are still far away from being the gospel.  For a fanbase that has watched two top-3 drafted QBs come here, and us move on, only to see them elevate their play elsewhere, I find it comical. Bryce is flawed but this org is damned if you do and damned if you don't with BY9.  Why would our GM and HC say anything other than supportive about their QB1. Yes, he's extended, but I truly do not think if he goes out and has a repeat of the previous seasons, that he is here beyond 2027. They're giving him every opportunity and surrounding him with a ridiculous amount of assets on both sides of the ball. If he continues to pitch 110 yd/ game and cough up the ball while everyone else is busting their ass, no way Dan keeps him beyond the extension.

      Ooof, I was not a Proctor fan. I agree w/ a lot of smarter folks than me that he's more of a guard and think his weight fluctuation is going to be something to navigate. I liked Lomu a lot, but figured there would be more talented guys there at 19. I also wasn't big on bringing in a TE via the draft. If it's not a vet (Njoku) or a trade for Mayer or Kmet, I'd just as soon see what the youngsters have. No need cluttering the room with more of the same.

      Sam Darnold & Bryce Young are two very different Qbs ..just saying the last 25 years approximately 2/3 of ALL  first round Qb's  in the NFL were or are bust.so for everyone who makes it like a Sam Darnold you have two that don't make it or are a bust
