No 2nd round pick. Now no 3rd round pick. How, exactly, are we fixing the OL next offseason?

Free agency. We were on a budget this year, which is why we lead the league in available cap. We have 45 million available already, not including the 20 million that will rollover this year.

The key offseason players not currently retained are Reddick, Jackson, Daquan Jones and Parasis. Players like Ian Thomas and Burris are not too concerning or expensive to replace in free agency. And even then the only one that has to be resigned is Reddick. I really want Jackson too though, because I feel his tackling has been phenomenal.

We just need to keep working on the Oline to improve in free agency with the leftover money.

Did you pay any attention to how Fitterer owned the draft last year? I'm not worried about losing picks right now. This man knows what he's doing

Also, some of the reports saying that Carolina is getting a 5th in return along with Henderson, so it's a trade down rather than straight giving up a pick if that is accurate.

Ian Rapaport mentions the 5th rounder in his initial tweet on the original post to this thread.  I missed it the first time reading through it as well.  It’s accurate.

Yeah, he'll be Curtis Samuel part II.  He has improved his play, but he'll be looking for a LOT more money than he's worth and won't be worth the cap commitment for us.

The other piece is that its possible Fitts is playing is hand with Donte. I believe there is an offer on the table for Jackson to extend (zero supporting evidence, other than Fitts comments in week1).

However, we do need 3 starting corners in this league. Considering its a nickel league now.

Okay, crazy as this all is, it looks like it's a smart move. We held onto too many TEs to start the season with and I think it meant that one of them wasn't up to snuff. Now looking in, all the talk about Arnold may have been some used car lot banter to keep his value up.

And just when we need some help at CB (Horn is going to be gone for a long time and may never be the same again after that kind of injury), we find someone on a losing team that can help us. Hopefully he's going to be the same kind of reclamation project Darnold has shown to be.

And even with Bouye coming to play, this gives us a lot of options as we move into the more pass-happy part of our schedule.

    • To all the analysts who said "Caps in 5", thank you for telling us their departure time.
    • We won't know the answer to this for a long time. Reality is, Caleb has been the consensus #1 in that draft for years. Bryce was a similar situation, but mostly the same. He was not the clear and obvious #1 that Caleb was, but most teams had Bryce at QB1. The Panthers were always going to be terrible Bryce's rookie year.  I don't think DJ Moore's presence would have changed anything about that offense, as our guards, center, and left tackle were getting demolished on nearly every snap. It's clear Caleb's dad was trying to do everything possible to ensure Caleb didn't end up in Chicago with Eberflus. It's hard to imagine that he wouldn't have done the same, but probably more publicly with our situation, considering Carolina is an easier target for the media than Chicago. We can all speculate, but it's impossible to tell who is going to have the better career on May 16, 2025. If either QB doesn't pan out, we have an easy answer. If both flame out, the bears clearly won the trade, but it wouldn't have really mattered anyway. We all know how we win the trade. Candidly, even if one of the other picks we gave up ends up being a hall of fame player, we don't know if the panthers would have taken that player anyway. All you can do is make the best decision you can in the moment with the information you have. I really like Bryce Young, and I'm glad he's a Carolina Panther.  The only way to win in the modern NFL is to have an absolute dude at QB. I personally am happy that our franchise recognizes this, as I remember times when they did not.
