Panthers about to trade for CJ Henderson?!?!

just to flesh out an earlier point I made in this thread (lost in the insane activity of posts in here, wheee)

calling this a great trade or great asset management is not the same thing as saying it's 100% going to work out in the Panthers favor.

Henderson could not work out and this is still a great trade because the process and decision-making around the trade is sound. it's the kind of decision-making that perennially great teams make, and I'm totally here for it.

The more I think about it, maybe this move to get CJ was a preventative move against out competition as well.

With Horn's injury we definitely needed to add more depth to the position. But also note that Tampa Bay was window shopping for cornerbacks as well, they actually reached out to Richard Sherman before the Panthers did.

So maybe this was a move to take a piece off the board before the Buccaneers who have a suspect DB backfield.

Arnold just hasn't been the type of receiving threat we anticipated him being and he's a a blocking liability. Thomas looks serviceable and Tremble may be ready to take on the starting role.

Yeah Arnold didn’t look fast and seemed really easy to tackle through 3 games.

On the other hand Tremble looks really athletic and seems to have good hands so we might as well give him more reps to speed his development

Definitely won't make up for zero 2nd and 3rd round picks, but can make a late 4th an early 4th.

I suspect ole Fitts will do everything in his power to get one, if not both, back.  The 2022 draft was going to FINALLY be the one where we focused on the OL, legitimately, not counting day 3 project picks.  I was hoping for a starting LT and C out of our 1st and 3rd rounds (obviously no 2nd rounder).  Yes, starting centers can be had in the 3rd round, but once you get to day 3 though, it's slim pickings.

    • https://x.com/4thand1show/status/1975274357174784272?s=46   saw this this morning and came to post something similar. I didn’t just love the team or the wins, I loved those dudes man. They put everything they had out there every Sunday. You didn’t see a rep where anybody on that field was low effort in that era, and if you did they were quickly sent packing.
    • …is Brycen Tremayne with 108 yards. Not sure what that tells us but I imagine it’s some sort of gumbo consisting of the following: - Bryce can’t push the ball downfield  - contrary to what many were saying this offseason, the wr still needs a lot of work.  - we need Coker back badly.  - Brycen is pretty good! Congrats to that young man! Curious to hear other’s read on it. Was a pretty surprised to see he had more yards than anyone other than Tet and thought that was symptomatic of our issues on offense.
    • I don’t think many fans would have guessed the Chiefs and Ravens would be where they are right now. Same goes for some surprise packages like the Colts, I’m not sure many would have put money on them being top of their division after five weeks. It’ll be interesting to see if this continues!   Not necessarily. The Chargers have lost both starting OL and their 1st and 2nd choice RBs. They fell apart against Washington. The Broncos have just beat the Eagles, so they’d be my favourite in that division, but they are still only one win ahead of the Chiefs. All the Chiefs need is a couple of results to go their way and they’ll be right in the fight for the AFC East. I think that division is going to be very close and probably not a 12 or 13 win division like predicted. Unless of course the Broncos kick on.
