This loss is on the receivers, not Sam.

First play of the game interception set the tone. Need team leaders to play better.

It was a bad decision, because he threw it too Robbie. You want to talk about leadership? Ask the guy who called out the coaching staff last week and responded this game with the most uninspired effort of any Panther ever… including KB!!

Sam was sold on the idea he would NOT have to play hero ball.  He was told he would NOT have to do it all.  He was told he had a defense and a run game and WRs galore!

3 weeks in and they dump it all in his lap and send him out to the wolves behind that line with no CMC and a depleted D.

Im stunned his play has declined…(sarc)

Hell of a bait and switch.

Sam is one of many problems this team is facing;

terrible o-line

stud rb who can’t stay on the field

OC who seems lost at times

 below average ST

talented D who are being asked to perform miracles because our offense is inept most of the time.

A HC who basically admitted he doesn’t know how to adjust during games.

Sam may not be the future. Sam may have shat the bed the past two losses.

But played good enough today for what he is. He led a last minute drive with precision passes. He side stepped poo blocking (once again).

Today we lost because of drops. Had the receivers caught those dead on passes, we would’ve won, guaranteed.

I understand the concerns of Sam but let’s keep this in perspective.

Exactly.

People harped on last week's pass to Robbie saying "oh.  Well Sam should've thrown it at the numbers to Robbie 'cause that's why he couldn't catch it".

Well he threw a bunch of those today and they STILL DROPPED IT.

So yes.   This loss is on the WRs.

But let's not also give a pass to the Defense or rather the -EFENSE ('Cause the "D" was missing) who gave up :

198 Yards RUSHING

370+ Yards PASSING

Jesus Christ that's bad.

We also need Wide Receivers to catch the goddamn football for 58 minutes after that, too.

We also need the Defense to not give up about 198 rushing yards and 370+ passing yards to the opponent either.

No team wins with 10 dropped passes. Yet Sam had them within a coin toss of doing just that.

Yep.   All the -EFENSE had to do was play some "D" and force (in the least) a FG to get the ball back and perhaps Sam would be clutch again.   But we'll never know because they couldn't stop a nosebleed today.

Sam is probably the second biggest problem on the team behind the raging dumpster fire at OL.

But this was just a game we were destined to lose. The stalwart defense wilted, our WR's got a case of the Crisco hands.....it was crazy.

At some level I am glad it is Sam out there getting drilled and not some promising rookie we drafted. It's pretty clear Darnold is going to be the future here so let him work out the kinks on offense while we keep building that OL in 2022.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
