It's interesting that he says that if it happens today it'd be Miami but if the Panthers it'd take longer...What does Florio know if anything?(i'd assume nothing)

So if it doesn't get done today according to one "source" that means better or worse news depending on your position.

Guessing it’s down to Watson in which team he wants to play for.

Darnold is going to be the starter simply based on our QB room. It's a sad QB room that needs dramatic improvement.

Who knows if Brady will be here next year based on any of the main reasons being him going to be a HC or less probably the Panthers move on. A lot of poo works in college when the WR is so much better he has 5 yards of separation regardless of if they knew they play or not. Still too early to tell if Brady is actually a scrub but it's not looking good.

Looks like we need a real NFL caliber offensive coordinator. But that will only help so much with the issues we are seeing now the team looks unmotivated and they couldn't even be bothered to put up a fight against a bad 1 win Giants team. I know we have no real option in the short term but it seems clear rn the team is and has lost confidence in the starting qb and it is only going to get worse as the season goes on.

Nope. like they showed its even when the plays work or are on time.

we have the worst OL in the NFL.   We can only threaten so much of the field realistically because of that.

and yes, Sam Darnold is horrible at reading a field and progressing.  The right throws come and go.  And yeah, people then get covered.   That's the NFL.   Windows close.   He is slow with it.   And when he does find something he too often isn't on time getting it out......  It's why he is a downgrade from Teddy.  Teddy could read the field  and get it out to the right guy on time.   Teddy can move on from the first read before the ball touches his hands.   Sam basically has to have his first read come open....and if it doesn't you basically have 50/50 of horrible Sam living up to his name.

and you could google and find artcles from this weekend that break that fact down.   and you can find people doing that throught his long career.  that's what he is.

Well Verge said we have the biggest deal buts it’s not done, I would say he probably doesn’t want to come here?

Id assume they wouldnt be spending all this and effort with the panthers is Watson didnt want to come here. There are reasons other teams are not invovled. They are probably working through all of the financials involved and shopping until the last minute. Once the dust settles, a deal will be approved.

I just want to emphasize how relative these statements are about Teddy vs Darnold.  Yes, Teddy better than Darnold.  Teddy might *throw* the ball on time, but if that wounded duck would reach a receiver on time is anyone's guess. 😛

I like PFT but florio has a history of making up details he doesn’t fully know.

It’s down to us and Miami…haters saying he doesn’t want to come here don’t realize we wouldn’t be this far in if he didn’t want to come here.

Let’s say he wants Miami over Carolina: if Miami’s deal isn’t as good as the panthers, he could just stay put right? The Texans have to like and accept the offer as well.

Maybe they’re using the Panthers offer to get other teams to up theirs. So may not have anything to do with DW and more to do with getting everything they can for him.

easier to drive up the price on Miami's offer when you have someone else precieved in the deal.

if it's only Miami, it becomes a straight up take it or leave it offer.

Some of these old shitty QBs do some good film breakdowns at least.

    • Valid, and throw in that what Wilson and Smith did is not out of the ordinary for a WCO
    • Darnold was pretty bad until last year.  He implodes mentally, its just what he does.  To this day I dont have a problem with letting him walk.   Baker is a bit different.  He was an ass in Cleveland and they couldnt deal with his poo, but he at least had talent and went to the playoffs.  So you know he could play at least.  There were different stories coming out from the time he got here, competing with Sam and then the practice team release fiasco.  Both good and bad.  Some say he was a good teammate others say he bitched behind the scenes.   From what it appears his wife has worked with him and he calmed down and his play has reflected that.  Tampa loves him.  So if we were going to keep one it probably should have been him but man he was really bad for us.  But to his defense he didnt get the first team reps until late into camp.     In obvious hindsight we should have signed Baker cheap, drafted a dude and let the cards play out, but you know the rest of the story and now we are going to have to watch bryce for 2 more years
    • Again his one year calling plays happened to be Baker's lowest YPA not counting his split year hear.  That tells me he was less aggressive with a QB who likes to be aggressive.  We have that and almost 2 full years of Bryce Ball here in Carolina.  He will take some deeps shots as most offenses have to in order to keep the defense honest.  Quick passes and hopeful YAC.  I'll give you one guess to which year Rachaad White had the most receptions as TB's RB?  Remember the first thing he wanted to do here is focus on how quickly he wanted to get the ball out.  That's part of his recipe to help QBs and help his OL.  Run the ball, quick passes to hopefully players in space, sprinkle in a little PA.   So yeah you can look at some coaches he learned under and speculate, but I am telling you what he literally is doing and has done as a play caller.  Offenses that were and are 100% his baby.
