Erving's "effort" on the play that got Sam hurt

The most disappointing part is that the guy who shellacked Darnold literally ran past Erving on the way to him. Erving didn't even need to make some big athletic play down the field. Just turn and stick his arms out a little and it would've at least slowed the defender down enough that it wouldn't have been such a vicious hit. You have to hope at minimum the coaches are highlighting this play in film study and correcting that.

Youre right. Didn't notice that. Ugh.

That’s the whole line all game. I pointed it out a couple games ago when Christensen played guard. Him and paradis got more work helping guys off the pile than they did actually blocking anyone. This team is full of passengers

Wonder why he doesn't seem to give a poo enough to give the 100% effort? What he heck man? He has one of the most awesome jobs in the world. Go have some fun, give that effort and kick some ass. If he isn't willing to then somebody please cut his ass and find someone who will give a poo!

He has been this guy his entire career. I have no idea why they signed him in the first place.

Honestly, what CAN he do about it?

anything.

Stafford already said no to playing here, players notice these things. what kind of message does it send players to continue to start him?

remember weatherly last year literally said he didn’t give two shits about playing and just wanted to get paid?

i think we are all see what a serious issue tho is for this coaching staff.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but it was Paradis that actually missed the block. It was his man that hit Sam.

Tremble cleaned up Irvings miss. Irving had little impact on that play.

You can say Irving never hit anyone, but it is wrong to blame him for the hit.

they were both bad. But Oluokon literally  ran 6 inches past Ervings shoulder while Erving continued to walk along and just watching Sam, in the wrong direction, and not looking to block anyone.. if he had, he would’ve ran right into #54

i don’t know how any who watches this can say Erving couldn’t have blocked him

i know we as fans are used to poo olines but go check out some games the top olines…you will not see this kind of poo, not even close

Was he supposed to chip the edge?

its a read option, he is supposed to leave 92 unblocked so Sam can read him.

then he's supposed to bang the inside d lineman and work to the 2nd level, which he doesnt.  lineman moving up field on a run play should always be looking for work.

Irving is a fuc^ing BUM!!

But, Sam is expendable…..per several on here.  No one deserves to be hit like that, particularly whoever you draft under center next year.

Oh relax with the drama. Nobody wants to see any player injured. We don't know what his future holds as the starter here but until shown otherwise it doesn't look particularly bright rn and acknowledging that is just reality. We obviously can't wait forever for the light to finally come on for a fourth year pro.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
