Rhule dumb as fug. Remember when we tried playing Kuechly as WLB for his first couple of games? Then the staff said nah he's a MLB for sure and moved him? Rhule would have left him to be WLB because he's dumber than rocks. 0 IQ coach.

And our talent will continue to be wasted and used incorrectly as long as that moron is here.

They moved Kuechly to MLB because Beason got hurt; Beason being healthy is the whole reason they had Luke at WLB in the first place, as they thought that was the best way to get as much talent on the field as possible. They did the same type of thing with Beason in 2010, putting him at WLB, and then again in 2013 before just trading him... he was not a good MLB.

Not really disagreeing with your point here though regarding their personnel decisions (e.g. moving Chinn to safety), just think it's a different situation. That Beason/Kuechly situation though does highlight that guys can truly be suited for a single position and that the 'versatility' approach may not be that great.

That’s the thing, Rhule is always saying a LT’s arms are going to be fully extended. That’s why that extra inch and a quarter “matters”, because maybe they won’t be “fully” extended. But an LT with none of the other assets mentioned is going to get beat every single time.

It’s not a perfect world for LT’s, just sticking your arms out every play and moving a little to the left aren’t gonna defend these highly skilled DE/EDGE OLB’s.

Hell, let’s give Rhule the benefit of the doubt, Maybe Christensen isn’t ready to start at LT this year, needs to perfect the scheme and technique for a while longer. Than say that, don’t just say, “OMG his arms are too short”.

He's been given the benefit of the doubt for almost two years now. I think that Rhule has run out of benefits and is only left with doubts.

I'd guess pure strength is also key. When you have a savage manbeast trying to bulldoze you to smash your QB, it'd help if you can match his ferocity.

This^

Don't get too caught up in "measurable" and overlook the one thing that matters most, toughness.

If he can hold his own 80-90% of the time he's good enough.  It's up to the coaches to figure out how to help him with the other 10-20% of the time.

Stop making him master other positions before he gets to play where he's best suited all along.

This is the kind of stuff coaches rely on when they don't know what they're doing.

he's been reading walter football so that pretty much makes him an expert in the draft and personnel decisions. if they say his arms are too short...they're just too short. who is he to argue with dem experts?

    • This is about getting open and YAC....and the QB we have.  You basically are just highlighting average depth when targeted vs 2 players. .  And yeah, I often say AT is a small slow reliable TE in terms of what he does for us.   That's what he is.   I think a couple of you want to make this into a Renfrow argument.   I'm a Renfrow fan.  Renfrow does not check the box of what a BY O needs either at the slot.  Renfrow just a niche roleplayer at this level.  it's easy to look up how horrific AT is with the ball in his hands and in terms of getting open.....and it's also easy to look up what a low ceiling of an offense the steady AT diet produces w/ BY.
    • The one time he's actively tried to lose was the best we've ever done.
    • I simply acknowledge BY is the QB.  And just like we did when we drafted him.....the type O you would need to setup around him for success was always pretty simple.  But we have done virtually the opposite.  XL dropping some passes isn't why we were ranked the 32nd O and 30th passing the past 2 years.  *Ricky Prohel was brought up only in regards to role function he served on the team.  Niche/specialist.   He wasn't eating up the snaps in the O.    AT should have a similar snap %. People could MAUL Ricky Prohel and put hands all over him.   We got to the Super Bowl in part because we were mauling guys (our slot CB).   You can't do that now.  AT has a MUCH easier life and still can't get open.  Or run.    If you live in 3 WR sets, with a weak armed QB, and you choose to put someone who can't get open or run in the slot.......well, your are going to have a weak pass O.  That's by design IMO.
