I expect next year to look like 2002 when we bring in an actual NFL coach.  The 01 team had some young pieces but desperately needed a coach to put them in position to win. This team reminds me some of the 01 group.

This team has talent, but that team had championship-level guys

Smitty > Moore

Peppers > Burns

Buckner > Brown

‘01 Steroid Line > ‘21 Walmart Creatine Line

Morgan > Shaq

We have a young talented team.  Nothing need to be gutted.  We need QB, OL and TE.  We are set.  We will also have a ton of cap space.  You guys are so dramatic.

$29 million is not a ton if you want to sign any of our own FAs.

I dont recall but I think panthers are like 15 to 18 in cap space

It’s quite hilarious actually if you think about it…. OP is suggestions fire selling a team with a top 2 defense and playmakers on the offense.

instead of evaluating gaps and filling them, fug it let’s just create more gaps and figure it out all over again……

Because people are stupid, this teams needs a real coach, and an OL.

I don’t know.  We are one of the youngest teams in the NFL.  Hard to have a fire sale with our roster.

now we might let a lot of FAs walk.  No Gilmore.  No Reddick.  No Cam.  DJ maybe gone.

not sure who would want CMC’s contract.

I honestly think you bring in a new coach and a they can draft their rookie and go from there. The team is young and imo talented. Look at your guys that could turn into some draft equity (Derrick Brown, Burns) and maybe flip them for picks instead of expensive extensions. Prob don’t spend a bunch of money resigning a guy like Jackson. See if you can get appropriate value for CMC (which at this point is the cap room and probably a 2nd round pick). Then start to build…with a coach who knows how to coach an NFL roster.

It’s going to be more with increase cap and cap carry over from prior year.  We can also redo few contracts.  We can easily spend $50M in free agency.

Moton: convert salary to signing bonus $10M

Resign Shaq: $10M

Resign DJ Moore: $8M

Void Paradis contract $8M (zero dead money)

We will have about $40M in cap plus possible additional $35M with few moves.  So yea, we got a ton of cap space.

That 30M is including increase and carryover.

Keep kicking the can down the road in rebuilding years and you’re never gonna see even mediocre.

DJ Moore has a guaranteed 11M 5th year option.

Paradis’ voided money is basically dead money. It’s in the total already, but you still have to find  a C still and you’re not getting anything from Paradis for the 8.2M cap hit.

And all the team needs is starters at QB, LT, LG, C, FS, LB, DT and 1 pick to help. How much are these starters going to cost if you can fill all those positions with “around” 40M. Plus pay draft class and any kind of depth.

    • Lol Atlanta looks to have lost their young edge rusher, has no 1st round pick, a complete mess at QB, a new coaching staff… And we swept them this year. Says what they think of us.
    • I mean, you can only go so far with the propping up. When a guy's numbers are as bad overall as Bryce's you have to try to find specific niches to sell. It's just funny that they're honing in on where he's probably weakest to try to prop him up. Whether it's a pro-Bryce conspiracy or not, it echos my chief complaint about PFF's analysis for years. When your purely statistical analysis badly skews from the eye test of actually watching the games, it should be screaming at you that you need to modify your system not double down on it. PFF is awesome at compiling stats but their grade systems are highly flawed and they never seem to try to improve them.
    • Then why is Byce also last in other PFF stats?  The deep ball thrower stat by PFF can simply be flawed vs some conspiracy trying to prop up a QB on a team that a former employee now works for.  Both of these guys were also hired AFTER the Panthers had already drafted Bryce.  Trying to prop him up with a made up stat while he struggled would be a detriment to their own team honestly.
