I don't see him changing the trajectory of the team in a way that building a good OL will. 

Pickett was good, but nothing about him screamed world beater, must draft prospect.

The problem with meatballs is that we were constantly picking top 15 with him as GM due to the other 6 draft picks (if we were lucky to have them all) and the terrible FA signings.

At least now, you'll never again have to worry about picking 7th-15th, because the only time the Panthers will ever have a first-round pick outside the top 6 is if they acquire one in a trade.

You're wrong.  When you look at the different combinations, the common denominator for success is the QB.

If you have a bad QB, it doesn't matter at all how good your line is.  Hello New Orleans Saints.

If you have a good QB and a bad line, it comes down to coaching and scheme.  Hello Cincinnati Bengals.

For clarity, I'm not implying either of those scenarios fit the Panthers.  I'm also not implying that a good OLine is irrelevant.  But when you talk about truly changing the trajectory of a team, only a good QB can do that with any regularity.

This is why it just baffles the mind why we seem to be completely opposed to the idea of taking a swing at one.  Yes, 100%, we're going to miss.  QB's even in the first round are 50/50 chances.  But you aren't winning the lottery unless you buy a ticket, and we seem completely unwilling to do so.

He very well could be, too early. I'm 100% with you about the Slater pick. It was the only great pick we could have made. Horn should be good but it's CB, tons of those around.
