Matt Rhule on why Darnolds option was picked up

Its sad when the direct comparable of what Carolina should have been is what the Saints are currently.

I was always giddy with excitement as to how the Saints would become a complete disaster when they cap finally caught up to them. Instead, they ride through the season with terrible QB's but stay competitive to the final game. Now they are a QB away from dominating again.

Uh yea…the better question is why did we give up draft picks for what we saw on the field this season and what does this mean regarding ‘the process’?

And if they hadn't picked up his 5th year option would they even resign him now? If not, how idiotic would it be to trade 3 draft picks for one year of whatever that was? Serious lose/lose situation

Clownshow is just repeating the same lines from last year.

The worst QB in the NFL over the last 4 seasons is young and we can fix him.   Just because.  Not because we have ever done it.  Or won in the NFL.  Or had good college QB play. But Matt Rhule’s plan is that he can fix Sam Darnold.  That remains the plan.  Just because.

That answer alone is a fireable offence.  My hate is turning on Tepper now for keeping this clown arouond.

He gave several answers today that are fireable offenses.

1: This

2: Cam has higher standards than him

3: He doesn’t know what he would do differently.

By far the lost alarming thing about this mind numbingly idiotic taking non-answer is that this is quite obviously the first time he's fielded this question. Tepper seriously didn't bring this up?

I'm honestly starting to think that Tepper is just in hiding somewhere. Too embarrassed to even acknowledge what is going on and just hoping that somehow, someway the storm clouds will pass and the Panthers will just magically start winning games because he has no clue what to do to fix this mess he's made.

    • I'm looking at the schedule and I see a 10+win season easy.  I think Carolina goes undefeated in the division.  I also believe that the Bears, Bengals, Lions, Browns, Steelers are very winnable.  Revenge game with phillips and the eagles could be a win.  Honestly only 2 games I see as chalking up a L to off the bat is the Seahawks and Broncos.
    • I guess so. Don't think I was involved with previous discussions.  Tepper is one of the newest owners in the NFL. Dan is going into his 3rd season as a GM - ever. Dave is going into his 3rd season as a HC - ever. Before becoming a HC, he was an OC/playcaller for one season total. Idzik is about to go into his 1st year as a play caller - ever. WRs are rookies, sophomores and 3rd year guys - though the experienced 3rd year guys are XL and Coker (who has missed a ton of games). TEs are guys going into their 2nd and 3rd seasons, and Tommy Tremble - though Sanders has missed a ton of games. QB has played 3 years. Chuba is an experienced RB, but Brooks and Etienne have taken very little snaps at the position. O-line is more experienced vets with some talent - which is HUGE. Need them to stay healthy. I mean the offense is very young in every aspect except O-line. You see it differently?
