In case you are out of the area and didn't hear the interview, he's what Rhule said about Slater.

As @Zod said, I too, am less confident in Rhule than I was yesterday.

what coach says this about players? I can't think of another coach who does??? Especially after the season?

Regarding Cam, basically said the Panthers reps will sit down with Cam and his reps at some point.

What I get from that is when Cam isn’t re-signed, he won’t find out from twitter.

Step in the right direction anyways if this is true. Also seems like Cam won't even want to re-sign here based on his comments about playing for a 5 win team (and I don't blame him one bit).

It's the one thing I give them credit for - passing on Fields. The guy can't play & he was worse than Trubisky by all numbers.

And Mac Jones really isn't that good either. No chance he'd have done better than Sam here with our OL and coaching. Pats have the perfect system and environment for him and he still doesn't look good most of the time. Can't really complain about not going QB in this past draft, they all sucked last year.

Matt Rhule and Marty Hurney are at opposite ends of the spectrum on this.

Rhule is unable to see that certain players who don't fit the ideal "checkboxes" often have intangibles and other factors that make them very good players.

By contrast, Marty looked at non-ideal players and saw those intangibles and other factors when they weren't actually there.

Interesting insight---I am processing it, but I think you make a great point.

I have no idea. When Tony Dungy turned around the Bucs he used to look for the smaller guys because they typically had more fight in them and had to be more technically sound to get this far.

Yep. And not directly related but I think it's worth noting, the best pro team in the Carolinas (Canes) has been among the most interested in smaller guys who traditionally haven't been valued and they're currently #1 in the NHL and have made the playoffs 3 straight years and been one of the best teams in that timeframe. Also Tampa Bay Lightning have taken chances on smaller players too and they've won back to back championships and have a good chance to 3 peat this year.

It makes absolutely no fuging sense that these morons get in their head that you need to have some prototypical size to be worth adding to the team. Nippleshorts was the exact same way. If a guy can ball then he can ball it makes no difference what the hell he weighs in at or how tall he is or how long his arms are, etc. Get guys who can play the damn game and understand the game and fit the locker room culture. It ain't rocket science.

And Mac’s play kind of Petered off towards the end of the season

Last years meltdown really came down to one decision that was only on the surface of the bigger issue. The choice to take Jaycee Horn over Slater was in hindsight a potential bad choice, bad in the sense our offensive line was probably our biggest weakness, maybe not the worst choice if Horn shows the promise he had in those few games he played. The bigger issue is that Rhule is so obsessed with making Snow work out at Defensive coordinator that it’s greatly hurting the offense. All this in an effort somehow prove Snow is a capable NFL defensive coordinator, which he is not.
