QBs that are left in the playoffs by draft status.

6 of the 8 left were drafted in round 1.

Of the ones elminated already Ben was a first rounder, Kyler was a first rounder, Mac Jones was a first rounder, Jalen Hurts, Derek Carr were second rounders. Outside of Brady every QB in the playoffs this year was drafted within the first two rounds of the NFL draft. 12 out of 13.

Good info.  But…it’s also worth noting that there are a lot of first round QBs sitting home right now.  Lamar Jackson, Lawrence, Herbert, Wentz, Goff, Ryan, Darnold, Mayfield, Tua, Jones, etc.

There are also a lot of first and second round QBs no longer in the league, and not before they aged out.  This line of thought is a minefield.

Without a doubt.  Really can’t read into this kinda stuff much.  Interesting info though

You have to draft your QB…most of the time

OL gets you to the playoffs

QB gets you through the playoffs

Defense wins you a championship

So, I don't care how many 1st round QBs are in the playoffs. I care about how many 1st round QBs get you to the SB.

Tom Brady(6), Nick Foles(3), Patrick Mahomes(top1), Jimmy Garoppolo(2), Jared Goff(top1), Matt Ryan(top1), Peyton Manning(top1), Cam Newton(top1), Russell Wilson(3), Joe Flacco(bot1), Colin Kaepernick(2), Eli Manning(top1), Aaron Rodgers(bot1), Ben Roethlisberger(top1), Drew Brees(2), Kurt Warner(undrafted), Rex Grossman(bot1), Matt Hasselbeck(6), Donovan McNabb(top1), Jake Delhomme(undrafted), Brad Johnson(9), Rich Gannon(4), Steve McNair(top1), Trent Dilfer(top1), Kerry Collins(top1), John Elway(top1), Brett Favre(2), Chris Chandler(3), Drew Bledsoe(top1), Steve Young(top1), Troy Aikman(top1), Neil O'Donnell(3), and Stan Humphries(6).

These are the QBs capable of winning in the playoffs since modern free agency.

Top1: 15

Bot1: 3

2/3: 8

4/7: 4

8+/Undrafted: 3

18 1st rounders of 33 QBs (55%). Now, consider 75% of teams have 1st round QBs starting. There is a greater success rate in the playoffs for NOT going with a 1st round QB.

50% of these SB QBs have not been with the team that originally drafted/signed them.

Lesson: It is extremely risky to draft a QB in the 1st round.

I mean, that's all good and all, whether you draft the guy or acquire via trade, but you have to make a good pick, develop the guy, and a lot of things must go right. There have been a lot of busts.

Might as well go ahead and add Sam Darnold to that list

For what it's worth, Dax Prescott was a 4th rounder.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
