I'm a passenger on the Corral train

We dont have a 3rd.  And qb's in the 4rth or later rounds rarely if ever work out.  Might as well use that pick on more line help and target a qb in the top 5 picks next draft.  We cannot keep wasting our picks.

I stand corrected. Once we get down to the fourth round, it's really BPA anyway, isn't it. Still, grab a QB, give him a shot. We're going to need a back-up QB anyway.

Based on what I saw of him, I wouldn't characterize Corral as bad or anything of the sort.

He didn't strike me as anything special, though.

Well, honestly, Scot, did anyone strike you as special? If they did, I don't know it. I mean, you probably bought into the hype of Luck or Lawrence, but I don't remember you going out on any limbs for any QB.

What are the red flags on Matt Corral? Need to know the bad that comes with the good.

He is a hot head. Gets into fights.

Think a mix of Cam Newton, Jeff George, Johnny Manziel, Jim McMahon and Ryan Leaf. This is the demeanor of the QB you want when you take Matt Corral. He will break rules, break laws, break faces with his throwing hand. It's Matty's world and we just live in it.

He obviously has great talent and athleticism. Outside of his flat rocket balls, high throws, and overthrows (similar to Cam's passing style).

He also has a well known injury problem.

Would you want a smaller more fragile version of Cam Newton and his reckless play style when he runs, doesn't protect the ball, and doesn't slide?

If yes, then Corral is your QB.

He has issues through HS and college with authority, drugs, alcohol, and fighting. I don't see him doing well with millions in his bank account and no chaperone (like the one that follows him around at college). Ole Miss did not get Corral because they were his choice. The schools Corral wanted like USC, Georgia, and Florida did their due diligence and passed on him. Corral has not been an easy player for the coaches of Ole Miss to corral during his time at Ole Miss.

In Corral's own words, he has been mad at the world. He believes his words get constantly taken out of context.

Is his 5 star talent and athleticism worth it? I don't see Corral and Rhule mixing well. I don't see Corral getting past 5 years in the NFL, and it won't be due to a lack of ability or athleticism.

In this year's quarterback class? Hell no.

I had concerns about last year's class too. Didn't really want any of them, Lawrence included.

He is an intriguing prospect but like the other quarterbacks not without those looming question marks. As we get closer I think we have to roll the dice on one of these guys. It’s that or an OT and for the record we are so LT hungry here people have basically bought into a narrative that we won't miss if we take one. And if you don't want a QB in the upcoming draft then don't enter threads about the subject these posts are beyond tiresome.

    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
    • Guessing the price is too rich here given the injury history.  2024 was brutal and production dropped off in 2025 with a few more injuries (albeit rough qb play).    Don’t really understand the narrative that Young can’t benefit from talented upgrades on offense. Especially here with respect to a tight end. Any QB will benefit from talented receivers that threaten the top of coverage and tight ends with skills to stress zone.    The age and injury history, coupled with what he’s likely asking, just probably means we can better spend that money elsewhere.
