Is this basement, if so what is next?

Tweets like what you see from Josh Norris are usually associated with teams like the Bengals, Browns, and Jags.

Have we dipped to this level. Signing Deshaun or not, no one is going to make those jokes if NO doesn't get him, nor if the Falcons swing and miss, yet here we are.

So what is the turn around point? Clearly Tepper wants to win, bit he is batting 0.0 right now, how do we turn that around. I admit, this year is lowest point for me as a Panther fan, and I am finding it very very difficult to get motivated to watch anything this season.

If landing deshaun watson was the determining factor for us to be a successful football team, then the NFL is in an interesting place right now...

Deshaun Watson is a talented QB, but he isnt the only one, and they way the league transforms after every draft, you cant rule anything out. Right now our roster is in the best shape it has been since 2017 (as long as key players stay healthy). The biggest holes are LT and QB, which can be filled via the draft, FA or trade.

I think we wait for that to happen, before we start digging a hole to burry ourselves in.

David Tepper is just plain and simple a bad sports owner. 10 years from now I believe we will really be able to analyze the true damage he did to the Panthers on the field.

Tepper is simply too involved in the football operations side of the Panthers. He obviously knows nothing about building a championship football team. That fact shows in every decision he has made, from hiring Matt Rhule, to getting rid of Cam, to bringing back Cam, and everything in between.

Tepper appears to have some good things for the community, and I applaud that. But this is a professional football team. And the main job of that football team is to win football games. It isn't to offer a great fan experience, or to sell tickets in new field suites, or to do community service work. All of those things are well and good, but the goal of a football team should be to win a Superbowl.

I just don't even know what to say anymore. The Panthers are in a very dark place and it's 99% David Tepper's fault. Things probably won't get better for a long while.

Next move, once Watson decides to play elsewhere, will be full on PR spin from Rhule saying that the price tag was “too much” and they were not going to trade any of the young players that they have now pissed off. Will try and save some sort of face by saying they backed out because the price tag was too high.

this upcoming year is going to be a low point for the franchise that may only be saved by Rhule getting fired or Rhule pulling a petrino and leaving for a college job by thanksgiving

He needs to make Rhule prove his worth with Sam Darnold this year. Sure, it’s gonna suck to watch as fans, but Rhule is out of excuses and bandaids.

He needs to mandate that the offensive line be addressed or a trade down take place in this draft. If we have the ability to pick up a first round pick from anyone for next year, we need to take that deal so that we will have ammunition to move up and grab one of those top tier incoming qbs.

He needs to make sure the cap is in clean shape for the next three years so that we can extend Moore and Burns, while also adding quality pieces to help our rookie qb win a super bowl while on his rookie deal.

the mess he’s made is not a one year fix like we’ve tried to do for three straight years. Let Rhule fail, fire him, hire someone with experience and build this thing right this time.

with any luck, Brady will be retired in three years, the team that gets Watson will be reeling from overpaying for his buddies and not having any young talent, and the division will be there for the taking.

    • I guess I should have stipulated outside the sacred cow.   I complained from year one that Bryce should compete for and win the starting job on his own merit but no he was just handed it. I have been right there with everyone that wants competition.  But I don’t really have a huge problem with it for this season the way it has gone because where are the viable people we don’t have to trade for? I actually am okay with tiny hands Pickett because he is so close to Bryce arm strength wise and to be honest, skill wise. Probably. And it is only a one year deal.  That also takes I to account that the QB class is looking stacked next year and if Young fails miserably then we get either a reset or a real competition and there will be more guys that I would like looking at in the FA QB class next year as well.    I sort of accept where we are this year and look at it as a treading water year. I just want to get to next year with some clarity. More than anything. And they did empty out the room. Again, who was really there for us?  And I know it would not be a true competition at this point anyway. They are giving him the year, like it or not.    Also I don’t give a poo about winning games IF he sucks and or goes down after sucking because draft position and that stacked QB class.  And I want out from under him So Bad.     So I guess it is several factors that lessen my anxiety over his backup this particular season.    I am not trying to convince anyone, but you asked.
    • What happened to King? Was he a no show?
    • think these smaller Qb's are going to have a much harder time convincing an NFL team to draft them. not saying a smaller Qb under 6 feet tall will not make an NFL roster .it will most likely be a UDFA contract more or less prove it deal.NFL teams have been burnt time & time again investing in these small NFL Qbs & i think  teams are now finally starting to realize that investing in these smaller Qb's under 6 feet tall is simply a bad idea  ...just saying
