Baker Mayfield Trade Rumors: Saints, Panthers Tabbed as Suitors for Browns QB

Same draft class as Darnold. He’s on his 5th year option so he’s not as cheap as his 4th year of the rookie deal. Should be the same $18.5M price tag.

Yeah and that's a completely fine price for a QB of Mayfield's caliber. He's a solid starter. Darnold is massively overpaid because he sucks and isn't even an above average backup level QB in this league.

I get the hesitations with Mayfield, he's absolutely not without flaws and isn't a true franchise QB. If we were to add him I'd still be looking for a QB this draft/next draft. But he would be a MASSIVE upgrade on what we have right now and would be worth trading a 4th for easily.

What are your thoughts, does this make us a playoff contender, do we give up another 2nd round?

The New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers might be leading the field in the race to acquire Baker Mayfield from the Cleveland Browns, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Sorry for that double post but yeah hes a very immature guy so he's HIGHLY pissed right now and highly motivated. He'll also be healthy next year bc he had a shoulder injury this year that should've shut him down for the season. I don't care for him long term but for one year, hell yeah. I'd give then a mid round pick for him if we can keep 6 overall and still draft Charles Cross. Might catch lightning in a bottle. But not for the 6th.

If he's so immature why didn't we hear a peep out of him during the Odell saga?

There is 0 chance it costs pick 6. You're looking at a future 4 AT THE MOST to outbid everyone. If Seattle doesn't want him it will be even less than that. Its one year on a fully guaranteed 18 mil, same as Darnold. Schefter came out and said one team that was in talks asked Cleveland for a pick just to take the contract.

Hes gonna be dirt cheap. Perfect buy low opportunity.

And if you still want to draft a QB you can...

Which conveniently only comes out AFTER the Watson trade. That is 100% a leak from the Browns front office and more than likely not true just being used as justification for the trade after they've been dragged on the internet not only for acquiring Watson but structuring his contract in a way he faces little to no penalty for his inevitable suspension.

The takes just a month ago were praising Baker for his grit and toughness playing through his injury that should have ended his season in week 2. Belive the exact quote from a teammate was "You could cut his dick off and he wouldn't fuging say poo"

I'll take that attitude every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

How bout still NO. I dont want any part of his cry baby attitude. The guy couldn't handle rumors of his team looking at another qb a put out letter field with tears when he already got a video floating around him missing wide open receivers left and right. Let him be somebody else problem.

I think they call that ‘swagger’.  /s

Or "dagger" depending on how it plays out.  I am OK if we can steal Baker--not going to crucify him because he was not great with a bad shoulder--I am not going to crucify him if his emotions get away from him-I think in many ways that he is the answer to the problem--unless you love a QB this draft.  Gonna be fun

If the swagger can be focused in the right way it could be a good thing for this team. Some attitude is not a bad thing. He should have been put on IR last year but they let him play. Sometimes you have to protect them from themselves.  Sound familiar?
