I don't want us to substitute one lame ass QB with another. He's not an answer and if he's not an answer I'm not interested.

My fear is that they would treat him like he was the answer and I just don't want any part of that.

They dug their hole with Darnold, for all I care they can rot in it until we wise up and get a HC who won't fug up.

There's not a vet answer available and there isn't going to be one this year.

Either we draft one or (more preferable) roll with who we've got and fix the damn OL.

Hmm 30 year old QB with a banged up shoulder who has underachieved with a loaded roster and one of the best young head coaches. What could go wrong?

If he's cut.  You're telling me you'd rather go with Darnold or a rookie with a lot of learning to do?

I am totally against trading for him but if he was on the free agent market I would give it shot.

Our options are getting smaller everyday.

Yea we don’t want to sign a guy who has played in the Super Bowl and was in the NFC Championship last year. Nah. Let’s not even consider it. Even if he was a reasonable contract and not giving up any assets to do it. Wow what a horrible idea that would be.

Some people hate Rhule so much they are rooting for us to lose this fall. Its a fanbase to be proud of.

The 9ers are 31-14 with JimmyG
Shanahan is 8-28 without JimmyG
They went to the Super Bowl and 2 NFC Championship games in the last 3 year

Naah, we're to good for him.

He's not a "winner". He's a mediocre QB on a really good overall roster. He's not good enough to provide any lift. If you're a roster that looks like a 5-7 win team without Jimmy G, you're still a 5-7 win team after adding Jimmy G.

Yeah exactly. We already had a Teddy. I wonder if Jimmy G would even get $10M on the open market to compete for a starting job anywhere else. Seattle or Texans maybe

The Chiefs were 50-26 with Alex Smith but couldn't get it done in the playoffs until Mahomes joined. SF's defense has been better than any that the Chiefs had during that time (Bob Sutton...) so they were able to make it a bit further but Jimmy is the exact same type of player as Smith and a small step up from guys like Teddy and Mariota. He's not going to elevate the team in critical spots and is somewhat fragile, so to me it's more of a lack of long-term upside not being worth draft capital.

If Jimmy gets cut and comes to Carolina for no draft cost and not an exorbitant contract then sure, have at it with the understanding that he's not a long-term solution either. Pretty reasonable chance he'll get hurt and miss several games or more anyway so the net effect may be the same as if he never joined.

That is a perfect example of a team, who didn't need to tank in order to get their QB and win a SB.

This mentality of: tank for a QB, lose now, and get a third HC in 4 years, is a strategy that will keep us in the NFL basement.

The 2022 season is lost. We're not doing anything in 2022, and Jimmy G wouldn't change that. A washed up, injured, "never was" type QB would only hurt our team in the long run.

The best thing that can happen now is to lose a lot of games, and draft a top 2023 QB prospect. The terrible Jimmy Clausen season led to Cam Newton in the draft. The terrible Sam Darnold season can do exactly the same thing to set us up at QB for over a decade.

The NFL is designed to help teams that have dumb GMs, but we have to get out of our own way. QBs are being handed to us in the draft, and we're passing on them (Fields) for poop awful horrible nightmare bad QBs in free agency. THAT HAS TO STOP. Fitt, who is certainly dumber than most people on the Huddle, needs to get out of his own way. Let the NFL help you Fitt. Stop making so many moves, and take what falls into your lap for losing and being an idiot.

    • Im not firm on many things football, but this statement or belief or strategy I am 100% for. Full Offseason the goal is to make the playoffs. Week 1, 1000% I want to win. Weeks 2-10,  1000% I want to win. Until the math stats 0.000000000% chance at NO playoffs, I want to win. *Once* there's no chance at the playoffs, I want to 100% lose every game until the end. You are still loser at 2-15 or 5-12, I want to never lose like this again. I want the best value for losing and suffering. Again the only goal is playoffs. Once in the playoffs anything can happen, I want to win the whole dam show. If you happen to lose in the first round, that's perfectly fine and lets work hard this upcoming off-season to get another chance to make them.  This is the ONLY way to play in the NFL. Anyone not understanding this method of strategy, please call your doctor for a visit...
    • Purdy's good but at the end of the day you're paying first class money for a business class seat.  It's a big problem with the salary cap.  QBs take most of it whether they are Pat Mahomes or not.
    • Purdy saved the 49ers from that three 1st picks for Trey Lance. People forget that. People also forget he should have MVP votes for the 23 season. He's been any where from the 8th(his best/23) to 14th ranked QB, he's legit and guys around top 10 get paid as QBs.....guys in 28th get paid too, he's 4x the QB Trevor Lawrence is and better than BY by miles as well...even without CMC, Samuel(whos a RB playing WE), and half the OL.    *BUT*    You non-believers missed this ultra important mistake that honestly made me reconsider all the praise I gave him. https://www.si.com/nfl/49ers/news/49ers-qb-brock-purdy-throws-blind-40-percent   That's is damming to my case and reset my thinking of his. That's nuclear scary now and I need some time.  too honest for me to overlook.
