Ian Rapoport: Carolina Panthers seem to be the most likely spot for Baker Mayfield

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport believes the Panthers are the most likely landing spot for Baker Mayfield.

In Carolina, we could see Mayfield compete with Sam Darnold in training camp -- the battle America needs and deserves. Rapoport also mentioned Tampa as a potential destination for the disgruntled Cleveland quarterback. With the Bucs, Mayfield could pull a Mitch Trubisky and serve as a backup until more appealing starting gigs open up in 2023. Whether he's good enough to seize those starting jobs is another question entirely. Mayfield struggled through various injuries in 2021 -- including a torn labrum -- and regressed from his solid 2020 campaign. His days as the Browns QB are over after the team sold out to acquire Deshaun Watson from Houston last month. The Seahawks have been linked to Mayfield too, though the team continues to pretend they're OK with Drew Lock as their Week 1 starter.

This is a bit harsh.  He's simply wants his opinion heard.  Unlike the passes thrown to him, he cant let this opportunity slip through his hands.

No, he really is a loser. His actions and play basically indicate that.

If browns pay around 75% of his contract and it is a mere late round pick........My body is ready. Hate is strong(mainly due to bakers doing)....but in 2020 he had a great year and should have gotten a couple MVP votes...

Yeah, that is a no-brainer move. People need to keep in mind...he only has one year left on the deal. If it doesn't work out, you just don't re-sign him.

Precisely. And in the likelihood he doesn’t work out, it means Rhule is gone, tabula rasa come 2023
