He said it to mute the media about lame duck year for Rhule, and the potential of any player not wanting to be here bc it will be a lame duck year for Rhule.  This elimnated the noise the media could have drummed up if he said anything different about the situation.

That was my thought process too. It also alleviates any tension with agents of any of the players.

Did this happen before the draft?   Read as smokescreen!!!  Right???

While we all can and should talk as much smack about Tepper and what he's done to the Panthers since he's insulated by his billions.

The reality is Tepper is a way better business person that I will ever be.  And if the team sucks and fans leave, he's going to make changes until it gets right.  Rhule has to show real improvement this season, even with Sam as his QB1.  It doesn't matter.

All Tepper did was give some sound bites to the media.  He's the same guy who bought the mansion of someone who pissed him off and razed it for him to build a mega palace over it.  He's not sentimental.  Tepper wants to win, and if the foundation doesn't play out, Rhule won't last the season.

Aw c'mon.  It's the famous owner vote of confidence toward a coach. Usually mean the coach is almost done.

It's  like a trope.

The overpraise of Matt Rhule today is the ultimate kiss of death. Rhule will be fired if he doesn't have a winning season coming up.

I really hope you guys are right.

I didn't find it that bad.. And I'm totally glad he admitted to his impatience which has cost his team..

Watch out - This doesn't fly with 95% of the posts on this forum. You are only supposed to talk about how bad we suck or how Tepper is the worst owner in the league (over and over and over again).

    • With Horn I would gladly over pay... via the TAG.   I would take his 5th year option and TAG and TAG again. Dude is a monster but I dont want to pay for a monster with as few starts as he has.
    • If Bryce plays like last year, we will be picking high and can move on.  But I am curious to see how people on here are when he sees success and becomes the guy, if he does. It's almost like people want him to fail. He's got that Panther jersey on and a good attitude. I am rooting for him, as you should.  Last year the coaching, OL, and weapons were abysmal, and it put him in a tough spot. He did not play well either, but we saw glimpses, and its a full team sport. I choose to go into this year excited under a fresh new regime and a top prospect from 365 days ago at the helm with new OL and weapons. Whatever happens, happens. Let's have some fun with it.
    • Maybe. You know he wanted that OC gig each time, I believe the last time they even stated he interviewed for the role. This was during the whole youth movement that mccvay started as well.  Honestly I was hoping Seattle would have cut ties with pete, he would have been great here in a top mentor role. I don't think its talked about enough, they did Pete wrong. He made them a great NFL team for the first time in their history and gave them a SB. He's still in great shape by all reports and they just decided to go young. They even removed most of his pictures and quotes in the building. Sorta like what the pats did to bill, but waay worse.  I guess I have too much loyalty for the new times, no chance either should been to out for retirement..
