People don't get this.

40 SBs have been won by a QB who was drafted by that championship team. Four of those QBs led their teams to a dynasty. Brady with 6 trophies (pick 199), Montana (pick 82) with 4 trophies, Bradshaw (pick 1) with 4 trophies, and Aikman (pick 1) with 3 trophies.

In the last 9 seasons, only 1 first round QB has won the SB for the team that drafted them. 3 QBs outside the first round have led their team that drafted them to 5 of those 9 SB championships.

5 of the 9 SB losers drafted their QBs in the 1st round. Goff, Newton, Ryan, Burrow, and Mahomes.

Brady, Wilson, and Mahomes have been the only 3 QBs drafted by their team to show up in multiple SBs over the past decade.

What can we learn from this? Drafting a QB to be your franchise QB gives you the best shot to win a SB, and not drafting that QB in the 1st round increases your chances at going to multiple SBs and cementing your franchise as an NFL dynasty. Facts.

Small sample size. Another way to look at this.

Over the past 15 years, only eight quarterbacks who weren’t drafted in the top 40 have won more than eight games as a starter for the team that chose them: Wilson (98), Prescott (42), Kirk Cousins (26), Nick Foles (21 in two stints with the Philadelphia Eagles), Trent Edwards (14), Chad Henne (13), Trevor Siemian (13) and Tarvaris Jackson (10).
