This looks so far like a Scott Fitterer and Dan Morgan RUN draft, not Mr. Teppa, Not Fhule

I noticed when they asked where they had Corral ranked, Rhule immediately looked to Fitts. That tells me Fitt was running this draft.

Good catch.

I really do believe Rhule has eaten some Humble pie. We'll never know the full story, but dynamics have definitely shifted, and it really hasn't been as subtle as the FO would like. From this to Tepper's press conference, there have been tells.

Perhaps the result of another sh¡tty season, being lambasted by fans, and roasted in the media has made everyone from Tepper on down reassess who should be doing what based upon strengths, and not Rhule's arrogance and ignorance. In any event, I like how Fitterer operates.

Was going to say something similar...

It was reported that there was an internal dispute going on over Mayfield. My theory was (and still is) that Rhule wanted Mayfield. Fitterer has expressed (repeatedly) that he views drafting and building around a quarterback as "the right way to do it".

I'd say Fitterer won the argument.

can you share this dispute report? I overlooked it. Ian Rappaport said last night that the Browns were playing hard ball, and we just hung up the phone and called the Patriots.

Ian was actually being critical of the Browns with his tone. Like "wtf are they even doing?"

This seems to be a draft thus far that is run by Fitt / Morgan

Round 1- LT, no getting Pickett cause he is from PITT and the owner wants a QB

Round 1- no trading future assets to getting back into round 1

Round 2- watching the board, getting eager but not wasting a future 1st to get back in.... A sinking ship Rhule would want back in

Round 3- giving up only a future 3rd and current 4th to lock up arguable a top 3 QB in this draft class.... that's value play right there

There is actually a third scenrio that could be in play here:

Fitterer and Morgan could be running the show, not Rhule, based on direction from Tepper.

It's posted in the Day 2 discussion thread, I think. I'll check.

I was thinking the other day; whatever is included in Rhule's contract regarding control is legally binding ultimately only for the amount of money that Tepper's on the hook for, and, at the end of the day, that means little to Tepper. In other words, he could have told Rhule, "I don't give a fug what the contract says, you better take a back seat, or your ass is fired." He may not have said it in those words or in a mean manner, but he may have suggested it.

For all the stories about Rhule wanting to go back to college and not caring if he's fired, I think some of those stories were taken out of context if not outright media-driven exaggerations. I think that he wants to make it work. Hiring a pro staff and fading kind of in the periphery and letting guys do what they do best is a sign of growth.

Found it...

Pretty sure there was another report saying something similar but this was the original...

Rhule has never done any of that above... The hate for Rhule on this message board has become dem trumpian levels....

Posters on this board telling on themselves with the way they project onto Rhule. Accusing Rhule of making desperation moves that would damage the team long term just to save his skin…because that’s what they would do.

Very impressed by Fitterer's grasp of the modern draft. He stayed put and got their #1 player at one of their top positions of need on day 1, and on day 2 he remained patient enough to be able to land one of the top QBs in the draft deep into the 3rd round at the expense of just next year's 3rd.

Also a bit ironic that Russel Wilson was also a 3rd round selection when there were size and durability concerns but accompanied by a live arm with clean mechanics... 👀

    • Thank you Chuba for being a great team player. He could have said I am the starter and really messed this team up. Chuba is a great teammate and understanding what is best for the team. Chuba will have his time, we will have a point that we need Chuba
    • He has 8 more games, for me. And that is 8 more than he deserves for what he has shown over 2.5 years.  But he has them and we will see if he can do anything with them.
    • Bryce did exactly what was needed of him That INT was bad. A wobbler the wind then took as well. Ugly. But other than that he did what he needed to do especially when we needed it the most  Game plan similar to Falcons. Neutralize the pass rush. Run the ball. Get ball out quick. Bryce extended multiple plays and picked up a couple firsts with his legs.  Maybe if we had a coach that understood this simple philosophy when playing against a team with a real good pass rush we’d have won the SB in 2015
