Looking back would you rather have Watson and a vet LT or Icky/Corral

Icky/Corral.

Watson gave Rhule the clearest path to disguise his deficiencies rather than skipping town/getting fired or improving.  His foot is still against the fire, we got a young QB to give a go, and a franchise LT.

I agree, but the question was Watson and a vet LT or Icky/Corral.

Easy answer. Icky and Corral. Watson would have been behind our line from last year with zero upgrades available. How well do you think we would do when he's getting planted 2 steps into his 3 step drop?

Paying a player 40 million yearly with serious uncertainty’s if he’s even gonna play this year, while also giving away all our future assets? fug no Watson went 4-12 his last year playing. Do you really think he would make us a contender? I’d rather keep throwing darts and having the potential to create a dynasty then possibly make the wildcard.

I'd rather Have Watson and a Vet LT from a football standpoint

I'd rather have anyone other than Watson from a distraction standpoint

I'd rather have Ickey and our future picks than Watson and no firsts for years (don't even need Corall to factor into that decision) from a front office standpoint

I was always fine with bringing Watson on board if we could get him for cheap because of lack of interest from other teams, but 3 firsts, a third, and two fourths.... HARD PASS on that cost, let alone the fully guaranteed $200+ million when he's about to get suspended for half this season as is and hasn't played in 2 years

I’ll add that I hope Corral looks lights out but for some reason we have to play Sam half the year and he goes 0-9 and somehow we luck into a top 2 pick and get a haul of picks for someone to move up like Miami got from SF or even the Browns got from Philly for Wentz. We aren’t that lucky but wouldn’t it be nice to have our cake and eat it too?

If we finish with one of the first 2 picks we ain’t trading back my guy

Coming from someone who went to Clemson, I am not sure I want a guy who forces his way out of what he felt was a dysfunctional franchise to go play for a team who arguably is the worst franchise in not just the NFL, but all of SPORTS.

The man literally called Atlanta (this has not been disputed by anyone) and had his childhood team trade their QB to go play for Cleveland. He could've came to Carolina or Atlanta and likely avoided 80% of the public pressure he's feeling now... He's taken some big hits over his career, I'm halfway concerned he has CTE.

Didn’t want Watson with the off field issues. Throw in what it costs to acquire him and definitely did not want. Having Icky should beat out most available LTs. Rookie contract plus the great ones aren’t going to be available. So now we have Icky on a rookie contract and a potential QB on a 3rd round rookie contract and all picks but our 3rd next year. Corral and Icky all day. They might bust, but Icky will be a great LG absolute worst case and Corral costs next to nothing. Losing out on Watson may be the best thing to happen to us in a while…

If your goal is winning a super bowl, it's extremely hard to fathom an avenue where the Panthers get there by trading the farm for Watson. Too many holes to patch up. How do you suppose we accomplish that with no high draft picks and no cap space (since Watson will eat it all up)? So for me the answer is easy: Corral and Icky. Even if the chances aren't great, they're greater than the zero that comes with Watson.

I just want to see these kids play. To me the "rebuild" although four years late starts with these two guys.

To keep them off the field would be a travesty and a waste of time. The fan base needs these guys on the field.

Turn the page.

    • To start with, you wouldn’t want to count up that value chart. You would see quickly where that is headed. But you basically did a quantity comparison, while ignoring quality.  I am looking at 2023 as the start, because it became all about Bryce.  2023 you have 4 picks plus DJ Moore for offense vs 2 (80 and 145) for defense.  2024 you got the 1st overall, the 32, the 46 and the 101 for offense vs 72, 157, 200 and 240 for defense. Leave the FA IOL out of it. Which was a crazy big  investment. But it wasn’t draft.  Anyway, that is basically 4 top 100 picks for offense and 4 picks for defense in 2024. Except they were 2 first rounders, the second rounder, and the 4th was really high at 101. Vs 72 and day three stuff. Please….  Second quoted/bolded… See you think we hate Bryce. That isn’t it at all. It is nice easy way to characterize us and discredit our talking points though.   Me, I do mostly hate watching him play. But I don’t hate the person. I hate the hell out of the stanning.  It started with the very first question I asked about his footwork, arm strength, and size. Height being the principle objection. I never even got to the durability factor. There was plenty without factoring that in.  But there was rabid opposition to even asking the question of what a couple of small fractions of a second extra closing time would do for the defenders.  What the extra time it takes to flip the hips would do vs a pass rush or on the other end after the ball is in the air. Split second more for recognition where it is going for the DBs.  The tippy toe backpedal.  That poo was a mess and it has always been mess but no Bryce fan wanted to hear it. “Go get another team to root for”. “It worked in the SEC it will be fine in the NFL you don’t know football you are just a hater”.  It got worse when the real games started. It has never stopped. It is nice that many people have left that train so there is less abuse but it hasn’t stopped.  So whatever…
    • Whatever school you attended, I don't know and I don't care, but I would suggest demanding a refund.    Something was completely missed there.
    • The draft capital since since 2023 has in no way been pretty even.  Especially when you zero in on day 1 and day 2 draft picks.  Draft capital has vastly gone toward the O over D.
