Do you think there is a legitimate chance we sign Clowney? Considering his price tag, does it even make sense for us?

If he is still a shut down run defender at DE then that's always useful, he's not going to get a lot of sacks but would be great opposite Burns I think.

Depends if we want to bring in a veteran QB what’s the point of trying to get short contract players that will help on defence if we’re going to be mediocre on offence

Similar stats/results, but Rucker was a 100% effort warrior....Clowney is uber gifted.

Assuming Clowney can produce what he did last season with Cleveland (no reason to think otherwise), I can’t see how a short term deal wouldn’t make sense.

Of course there is definitely an argument that we should just let the young guys get their shot…so either way makes sense IMO

I'm not a great fan of Clowney's but can see how it could help the Panthers. The DLine and ends use a rotation and between Clowney, Luvu, YGM and Burns, I can see the strengthen in that rotation. I don't see how it would adversely affect their development.

Rather have other guys out there. Melvin Ingram for example. Dunlap. Clowney is so overrated.

This 100%. And we have to realize that we won't fix the defense with another one year rental of a sack specialist.

Our defense is soft and that's a down to the core problem that can't be fixed with a coat of paint or a flashy new doodad.

The more I think about it the more I lean towards "no thanks".

Doesn't live up to the hype or price tag as far as actual performance is concerned.

YGM is in year 3 and we need to see if he's part of the defensive core or if he's just a rotational guy. He has the build and tools to compliment Burns well, but has only flashed. Time to see if he can step up and put up starter numbers. 

I'd rather pass on DEs currently. Not sure where the relationship was at prior to cutting, but bringing Fox back on a cheap deal would satisfy me.

With so much in flux from the Coaching staff, down, this year is more of a 'wait-and-see' for me. I see Clowney as a trade you make midseason when you realize your team is a DE away from being special. May of 2022, we ain't there. Check back in November.
