Who should we be looking at outside the "top 4" QB candidates?

I'm high on Penix as well.  I think he sneaks into the late first round.  Tune from Houston has put up some numbers and I know @saX manhas been high on him.  I think Ward has potential, but probably stays another year.  Jaren Hall has been flying under the radar, but he is small and Wilson struggling might also hurt his chances...

I like him for sure. Could be a top-15 pick when all is said and done ahead of Richardson & Levis.  But I still don't hear much about him from my limited scouting source.  There must be something team's are hesitant with about his game, but I really like what I've seen all season (Same w/Ward).  Bowl season and shorts season will be huge for both him & Levis.

I advise people expect McKee & Tune to be risers.

As a probable day 3 QB, I'd take a look at Jordan Travis from FSU (granted, I am biased as an FSU fan). I think he has looked really good this year in how he has moved in the pocket, accurately throwing on the run, has good zip on his passes, and is capable of putting good touch on the ball when throwing (usually out of the pocket). And he's doing this with an average at best o-line.

Much like Cam, he definitely needs to work on his footwork when throwing, as he tends to sail some of his passes.

Richardson: 54% - 2549 passing yards - 17 TD/9 INT - 650 rushing yards - 9TD

Levis:   65%- 2406 passing yards - 19 TD/10 INT - -107 rushing yards - 2TD

Penix:  66% - 4354 passing yards - 29 TD/7 INT - 86 rushing yards - 4TD

2 ACL tears and a shoulder injury are what's keeping Penix out of the top-15, along with the Pac-12's lack of defense.

I feel that a relationship with TD and getting a conditioning program in place with a HOF that had 3 ACL tears could work here.

Carter/Anderson/Mayer in R1 and come back with Penix in R2.

To be fair, none of the people who were here for that are around anymore.

True....I meant more that we could bring TD in as a consultant or in a way similar to Luke and Smitty stopping by practices. Lend his own personal thoughts on the ins and outs of NFL life and what he did to maintain health while facing adversity.

This is an example of what I mean. Brugler who is very much in tune with a handful of FOs and different insiders speaks so cautiously of Penix. His notable sections are about how he wasn’t considered draftable before this season, has a long delivery and is a strider. There is clearly pause in the eval community, still though I think he’s looked great.

    • I believe Lloyd will elevate not just the whole unit, but also whoever his running mate is. Wallace is still very young, I think he's only 23 with two years of exp now. Cherelus can handle starting, he's just fighting with staying healthy. Kuwatch I think is going to be a contender after a couple week of understanding the system.  I mean Lee will be against..... what nearly 10 NFL-level WRs, he's going to get work and its up to him if he can hang.  I think its fair to expect 12th +/- 3 or 4 spots.  You know this, it boils down to how healthy everyone stays.....cause if dbrown, horn, Lloyd, Michael Jackson, or tervon miss extended time.....no way 10th can be reached. IF all the names above remain haethly, I do think 10th should be the goal. They are a young unit and added talent to a 16th ranked unit. Its time to march forward!!
    • Varying degrees all around but it starts at the top. That is where the buck stops. It has been 8 years of stupid, long before Morgan came back. Or Tillis was hired. Made it to the top of stupid mountain in 2023. Stayed in stupid limbo for a while, now we are prepping to scale the next mountain. In this case, I like those guys’ roster building better than what we have had so I am okay with them as our current pawns in the game of Bryce.
    • Don't let me gas him up too much, but I hear this and that...... I seen a wide body man with a quick burst, that's able to shed blocks and if extends his long arms its over. He tore up the OL in the senior, you seen about 10 plays and the dog walking OLman. There's other plays of him doing the same, just have to deal with fetus talking over the plays. Plus there's this-  https://x.com/PFF_College/status/2018385471068332410?lang=en     I hope he's ready, cause Id like to see him starting and doing his thang with dbrown, nic, and Phillips.
