Drew Brees - Bad accident or Bad Taste?

Sure looks fake. Seems like the only coverage of it seems to be linked to the video. I feel like if this were a credible story, we'd have heard about it happening from legitimate news sources before the video made its way online.

Lightning strikes are incredibly loud and incredibly bright. At night a lightning strike that close would absolutely white out a camera with a night filter on. It wouldn't just be a little blue flash in the corner of the screen. And would have clipped the audio rather than a perfectly piped in "thunder" sound effect.

I'm calling BS and poor taste.

Lightning strikes are life-threatening and he would have some nasty scarring. I’m calling bullshit because it seems like people aren’t as worried as they should be given the fact he just had 300 million volts coursing though his body.

This was not Florio’s best or most careful work, but it did create the conditions under which ESPN’s Saints reporter Katherine Terrell sent this context-free tweet:

Anyway, the whole thing was cooked up by an online sportsbook that thought it would be a good idea to try and drum up publicity by pretending to get Drew Brees killed. It’s back to the drawing board for those marketing geniuses.
