I will never understand this Jake Delhomme game manager stuff.  The only thing I can think of is its younger people who look at stats and didnt watch the games.   Before the elbow injury Jake was a gunslinger almost his entire time here.  Our entire offense was basically run, run, play action bomb.

it is the bandwagon fans when we had Cam and the other superstars. They dont know anything about the 2000s panthers. Delhomme was Favre lite... and he was often compared to Brett Favre throughout his career. Nothing about Delhomme was a game manager.

we tried, it didnt work, its time to cut ties and let another franchise waste money on him and try and to get him up to speed.   He needs to seriously be moved from this roster, back up or not, friendly deal or not he is not the answer

Yep. I don’t even want him back as a backup. He’s done an admirable job, and I wish him the best in his next destination.

Lol I’m 40 years old and have been a Panthers fan since inception. Football fan since the skins beat the bills in the Super Bowl. Yea he had gunslinger tendencies but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t also a game manager. His gunslinging was throwing it up for Smitty.  When he wasn’t throwing prayers to Smitty, he was leaning on the run game and trying not to turn it over. Game managing. He was never a “take over the game and win it for us” type franchise guy.  Lotta people getting their panties in a twist over this comparison but I’m not hating on Jake, I loved Jake, but he wasn’t the focus of the offense. Game managers are QBs who aren’t the focus of the offense, they manage it for the guys who are.

What a stupid take. "Wow, we can run at will against this team! We should try passing more!"

Too bad Tampa didn't do that last week. "Nobody is covering Mike Evans! We need to stop throwing to him!"

Oh it's cookinbrak again. I almost didn't see you there. Aren't you the one who was mentioning Darnold in the same breath as Steve Young after we traded for him and then you spent weeks attacking anyone who wanted us to draft a QB? Yeah I'm not surprised you're irate when faced with the truth.

I feel like he led plenty of 4th quarter comebacks with his arm.

You are stupid as phuck.

The man had 2 min drive after 2 min drive.

He wasn't game managing he was playing for a coach who said a punt is a good play.

He sure as phuck didn't game manage in the 2003 playoffs setting a Superbowl Record for longest td pass and going 90 yards in about 2:20 to tie the game with a great td pass.

You're doing way too many drugs.

Sometimes fans disagree on the meaning of game manager. For some people it means someone who doesn't have the ability to take over a whole game and dominate it entirely, regardless of their play style, such that they're the contrast to a franchise player that you expect to do those things.  For others it means someone that plays a limited style of offense where the primary goal is to avoid turnovers no matter what, limiting deep throws etc., Basically not a gunslinger.

Times in his career Jake did just manage games. Other times, though, he was a gunslinger tossing the ball up and down the field. So, eh, I dunno. I'd never call him a game manager on the whole personally but the term is just used different by different folks.

Delhomme was the opposite of a game manager. Dude kept games close that should have been blow out wins for carolina. But he was cold as ice at the end of games. Bad decisions all day long but in that last 2 minutes... it's on!

This was the first year he came on and he did so in limited duty with a head coach fired and a new coach taking over. He looks better plain and simple. Nope he doesnt look like a prime Tom Brady but he looks damn decent and if he isnt asking for a ton of money in a new contract he should absolutely be resigned for a couple years in the offseason especially if we draft a rookie QB.

Do you still feel this way?
