AFC team with a QB in place so the pick doesn’t hurt as bad. Owner with plenty of money. They check some boxes definitely…

Good points, maybe.....

AFC is good for the Saints, but that is horrible for Payton himself as the AFC is way ahead of the NFC right now.

QB is in place, but is that a good thing? Wilson was horrible this year, and honestly has shown regression for a couple years prior. Geno outperformed anything recent from Wilson. In that division you have Mahomes and Herbert who are clearly better than Wilson, and rumors of Tom Brady maybe going to Vegas would put Wilson as the worst QB in the division. If Wilson doesn't play better, you are stuck with contract for a long time and because of that contract the team will be somewhat handcuffed to retain or add pieces

I'll be interested to hear what the whispers are after Tepper's meeting with Payton tomorrow.

After? there will be whispers during their meeting even if its just the two of them. Thatds how the 24 hour news cycle works..... makeup poo to get clicks.

It really sounds like Payton will go to Denver.

My biggest take away from that clip is how Tom shoots down “Dave will throw everything and is desperate” take down from the get go. I don’t think we as an organization will be desperate like a number of negative Nancy’s around here think.

This isn't Pelissaro saying "I'm hearing it's Denver." He's basically doing a process of elimination of available jobs.

Cardinals - out because they already hired a GM

Texans - out because of Nick Caserio.

Panthers - out because the trade will cost too much

Broncos - only one left. Pelisaro feels Broncos ownership will be more willing to part with the picks for the trade.

[edit to say I'm not stumping for Payton or anything, I just don't think this report by Pelissaro supports the conclusion "it's going to be Denver."]

Coaches talk too. I'd be stunned if Payton doesn't chat with Pete Carroll about Russ. If he does, we can probably guess whose word will matter more.

Alright it's time for Tepper to focus 100000% on Steichen and Kafka. Like go to the Saturday night game and just walk sideline to sideline hitting them up. Have one of them ready to go, ready to assemble their staff as soon as their season is done. Because right now he is going to end up with Steve Wilks and a LOT of empty seats at BOA next season if he keeps up this SP nonsense.

    • And really, it should be 4 reasons with the last one being that there were ZERO other offensive weapons on that team in 2024, opposing defenses only had to worry about one player all year long and they constantly double and triple teamed him right off the snap all season.  In 2023, we still had Jacob Cowing who had 90 catches that year and was drafted by the 49ers last year, so teams couldn't just send everyone after T-Mac on every passing down.
    • I wonder if the Hornets view Kon and McNeeley more as forwards and plan to ship off Green/Okogie/Smith for center help. I hope they don’t plan to ship off Sexton as I like what he brings to the team. (2) G - Ball, Mann, Simpson (two-way) (3) G - Sexton, Dinwiddie, Connaughton (3) F - Miller, Knueppel, McNeeley, James (two-way) (3) F - Bridges, Williams, Salaun (3) C - Diabate, Kalkbrenner, Plumlee
    • 3 main reasons he was better in 2023 and none of them concern me for his NFL prospects 1. Totally new coaching staff that was a massive downgrade and had god awful play calling and designs, the entire fan base was ready to run the coaching staff out of town a month into their first season and the play caller ended up getting changed because it was so bad. 2. Along with the staff downgrade, his QB played significantly worse after being the Pac 12 Freshman of the Year in 2023.  Constantly missed T-Mac when he was wide open, lost out on a number of TDs and a good amount of yardage, half the time T-Mac still almost made miraculous catches on the bad passes too. 3. He hurt his ankle over the summer and missed all of fall camp only to return to practice a few days before the season started and I think he had to deal with it all season long and was slightly limping at times mid season too, but kept fighting through it to still be a 1st team All American.
