I wouldn’t riot if we hired Payton, but I’m not really convinced he wants to coach the Panthers at this point.  And I feel like the Saints would probably make it prohibitively expensive for us.

I think he ends up in Denver or back on TV next year.

I would be satisfied with Steichen or Kafka, and I think I would take Reich over Wilks if those two fall through.

Rumblings in the last few hours have Quinn as the favorite to land the job in Denver with Bevell as his OC. He's doing a second interview this week at some point with the Broncos.

Why I said the interview with Arizona is a ploy (he wants full control) and his non second interview with Denver has Carolina in the lead but he needs to drum up interest to get his asking price salary wise.

I think our best move is Steichen but Payton being 2nd. 

Steichen will have a full set of draft picks and I think that will be key in the decision.

I think if we hire Payton it is going to be based on whether he thinks Corral will be his QB.  If Payton thinks he can work Corral into our starting QB than we will trade this years pick to New Orleans.  New Orleans will not be happy if he comes to Carolina and I don't think they'll accept our 2024 pick.  They'll want 2023 but if we could somehow give up next year's pick than that makes hiring Payton much more realistic.   

I prefer Steichen.
