Players adored Marty Hurney too maybe let's bring him back in some capacity if Washington let's him go.

I really don’t care who the players prefer since most of them won’t be here in 3 years let alone next year. Any good coach will get all the players behind them and playing hard.

Reich Asst head coach/OC Wilks

The other way around and I'm find with it. For too long the defense has been trusted more then offense. They would shutdown the offense and believe in the defense to win games. It's time for the opposite.

Well if they preferred him so much they wouldn't have let the Steelers and Mitch Trubisky walk all over us at home in a game our media team hyped as a protect our turf big match-up. The team failed miserably. That tells me all I need to know about how much it matters that Wilks is popular.

The only good thing about going with Wilks is he has already coached the team for 12 games so if he isn't winning at the end of next year then he is firable because it will be like his second year with us.

Just clean house and hire a consultant so we have a chance at ever hiring a good coach.

Wilks will play a boring, pound the football style offense that doesn't work in today's game. He will have a solid defense and a terrible offense. Go 10-24 in his first 2 years and get canned. Save this. Bookmark it. Ya heard it here first.

You have to throw and run the ball. In today's game it is harder to develop an effective run game than it is a pass game given the rules favor offense and passing the ball.

If Buffalo would have had half our running game to rely on when their passing game struggled, they would still be playing this week. In the snow and cold you have to be able to run the ball. And when they load the box you have to be able to pass. Which we actually did pretty well once Darnold got in and got comfortable with the offense which averaged right at 24 points a game which was in the upper half of the league in those last 6 games.

They sure didn't want him coaching when they didn't show up in several key games.

This franchise has always had problems filling the stands. I grew up in DC rooting for the Redskins and Charlotte can’t hold a candle to those fans in DC. Even after 25+ years it’s still a weak fan base as a whole.

No thanks. That’s going to be a losing combo.

I am sure it has happened but does anyone have examples of interim NFL coaches that actually worked out?  Feels like a rare occurrence.

https://usbettingreport.com/news/how-have-interim-head-coaches-fared-in-the-nfl-in-the-past-10-years/

This is just one of the first results from my search but Doug Marrone and Mike Mularkey are the two most recent to make the jump from interim to permanent on a long term basis. Marrone went 24-43 and Mularkey went 36-53. That doesn't bode well for the pro Wilks folks to say the least.

As the huddle turns, now the rumored leader is Frank Reich??

He was my top insurance HC, i was very deep into Shane Steichen.......

Just feels like reichs contacts are the main reasons for panthers love.

And the fact that his offenses were good under 3 different QBs

    • Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan is putting the league on notice early into his NFL career, and 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan is well aware.  “I think he’s a stud,” Shanahan told reporters Thursday. “He’s going to be one of the best receivers in this league sooner than later. He’s got all the skill sets to do it, and I think he’s just getting started.”  Through 11 games played, McMillan has racked up 748 receiving yards on 54 receptions. He ranks sixth in the NFL in receiving yards and leads all rookies in the category.  Carolina selected McMillan as the No. 8 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. San Francisco had the 11th overall pick.  Did the receiver out of Arizona catch Shanahan’s eye in draft preparation?  “Yeah, big time,” Shanahan said.  Shanahan also said that he thought the receiver would be taken well ahead of the 49ers’ draft position, but the team did their due diligence when scouting the best overall draft picks in the 2025 class. With McMillan off the board, San Francisco ended up selecting defensive end Mykel Williams with the 11th pick to bolster its defensive line. https://www.nbcsportsbayarea.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/kyle-shanahan-tetairoa-mcmillan/1893558/
    • Koochie is playing his best hockey yet so far but it’s a small sample size
    • In basically every win but Atlanta he's had 2-3 plays that were a big deal but he also was part of why we needed those 2-3 plays instead of just cruising.
