Thank You Coach Wilks!

He earned so much respect from the players and fans this year. What a turnaround he orchestrated.

He's one helluva coach and I'd have loved to see him stay here. I kind of hope Reich makes a DC offer to him.

Still, as much as anything, Coach Wilks reminded this franchise what the Panthers are supposed to be. He gave us back our grit.

Wilks was able to sweep up the ashes left behind by the Process in a matter of weeks.  He turned what I thought would be a 3 or 4 win season that was impossible to watch into a respectable season with some bright spots and hope along the way.

If nothing else, he left the team in a far better situation than it was when he got his hands on it.

He probably deserves the nickname Dirty Steve.  Just like Dirty Harry, he gets dirty job that comes along.  First Arizona, then following Rhule here.  If he is patient, he may be in Indy following Saturday after about week 11 next year.

To borrow a phrase I learned in Jamaica, “ much respect, Coach Wilks!” You brought this team back from the dead and helped us find our identity again. You gave a reason to watch and cheer for the Panthers again, and for that we are truly grateful.

Best wishes for wherever your career takes you sir.

Nothing but love and respect for Wilks. He exceeded what was asked of him and rallied this Team from the trash heap that Rhule left burning behind him. He embodied Keep Pounding and made this team watchable all year.

I hope he lands on his feet elsewhere (preferably not in the NFCS) and eventually is coaching a team.

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
