Or how about we just draft a QB?

There is no upside with Carr. Good guy but not someone who can be a consistent playoff QB. We need a franchise QB not another castoff QB who happens to be 32 years old!

I don't want to draft a QB just to draft a QB. At #9 you're leaving a lot to chance. Drafting the QB we want likely means having to trade up.

Carr has already peaked in his career. A lot of posters on here make good points that he had arguably the best WR in Adams and they did put up stats, but they also didn't WIN! If Carr comes here, yes he would be the biggest upgrade we've had at QB so far but don't let that fool you. There is a reason why Kirk, Dak, Lamar, Carr haven't made deep playoff runs! They put up numbers and stats no doubt, but they are not winners! Why is Burrow/Mahomes/Allen consistently in the AFC championship picture year after year? Go for the home run, don't settle for Carr.

I wouldn't hate it even though I'm admittedly very tired of the retread carousel. I do like Carr and I honestly think he's a borderline top 10 QB in this league.

#9 is likely too far down the board to get the QB we want so we're left with either pursuing a costly trade up or chasing Derek Carr. Might as well make a run at Carr first.

Or trade our entire future for Lamar. That's the route I definitely wouldn't go.

Right now we have 1 QB that has never thrown an NFL pass and was "developing" under Matt Rhule. We're getting a retread, no matter what. The question is who are we going for and how much are we going to pay. If Carr comes at a bargain, great. If not, expect a Darnold or Brisset. This team is not going into TC without a QB that's taken at least a few NFL snaps.

I mean to be fair

He was Mid with a top 3 NFL WR (Devante Adam)

and top 3 NFL TE in Waller

To be fair, Waller was out most of the season. I know because he was on my FF team.

However, he DID have an elite RB, who was also on my team, along with CMC, Chubb, and Foreman. Yes, I won. 🙂

    • My biggest fear with Bryce Young is that he will always do just enough to stick around. He shows flashes and then drops a turd so the hopium is always there. Like his career highlight reel if you cut it up to some hype music and did a YouTube video would actually be quite good. His great plays really, really look good. But after that video you look at his yearly averages for completion percentage, yardage, touchdowns, and virtually every other metric and it is meh as fug. Like you know Bryce is gonna be 13/23 for 157 yards a touchdown and probably a pick.  I will 100% give him his flowers for his athleticism and ability to scramble outside the pocket. I haven’t seen the mythical “super processing ability” he was touted for per se, but he has shown flashes of absolutely elite awareness when it comes to scrambling. The little basketball move he does to shake defensive linemen has almost become a signature move. It’s hard to explain but you know it when you see it he stops on a dime and pivots like he is gonna hit a step back jumper and it has gotten him out of a lot of trouble.  I sincerely, truly, as a vocal Bryce HATER, hope that since we are obviously running with him next year the coaching staff actually tailors plays around his strengths. He needs to be in a pure spread IMO. His size is much less of a hindrance when he can play QB in open space. I feel like most of his highlight reel is from scrambles and play action/bootlegs.
