Post June 1 it's $3M saved $3M dead cap. I'd definitely do it after the draft and OTA's unless you wanna do him a favor and let him find another team asap. That team may be in Canada though

Yeah.  He's good [enough] that if a starting caliber TE doesn't happen in the draft, not a huge deal.  But still allows us to select Musgrave/LaPorta/Washington at 39 if we choose.  

But then, if we don't, can still take a R4ish shot on a Schoonmaker, Kraft, Whyle type.  

Makes the decision at 39 less forced, can be the best offensive skill player available.

I think people still view him as a failure as a 1st round pick.  I don’t think he ever should have been that high.  

A SC boy getting to come home to end his carrier.   Hopefully he balls out.  Great signing. Makes our new QB much more comfortable.

Solid vet TE. I still expect TE to very much be in play at #39. Feels like that pick almost has to be WR or TE unless someone is there that's just shocking to still be available.

I'm with you, but I'd prefer a wide out to a TE.  With TE's I'd rather do exactly what we did.  Just takes too long for those guys to contribute.

regarding Hopkins... Only 8 Mil?!? LET'S GO GET HIS ASS - From Bleacher Report:

Hopkins has a no-trade clause in his contract and is set to carry a $30.8 million cap hit in 2023. That cap hit will be reduced to $8.2 million after Arizona takes on the $22.6 million in dead money remaining on his deal—but he won't be a fit for every team. He'll have to sign off on any trade, and teams will either need to have the necessary cap space or be willing to negotiate a new long-term deal.
