The Panthers Glorious WR History

I met Cotchery’s niece at a lounge last night. She saw my panthers hoodie, and came and asked if I knew about Jerrico. Showed me pictures in her phone, and Cotchery brought her dad to the Super Bowl in 15. She was at the NFCCG.

Should’ve gotten her number, lol.

Oh, and yea, that 2017 WR is horrible. Even with that, we should’ve beat the saints in that playoff game. Clay dropped that gimme TD and Funchess should have caught that pass that would’ve been the GW TD in the 4th.

You know what else Im worried about, most of these scouts have been around since fox and RR. Mainly 4-3 defense type/system.........now panthers are switching to 3-4, just a different set of skills are needed. Not to mention they struggled finding decent 4-3 DLmen too, so now they know what to look for in 3-4 DLmen and LBs??

That doesn't concern me.  Our scouting department has evolved every year for many years now.  Besides setting up the board includes the coaches.

Id honestly let the coaches have 99% of the input on this topic.

It’s a wonder what Cam did that year leading us to the playoffs and a near road upset of the Aints. Granted we did have Olsen and pretty elite RBs but still.

Stewart was pretty washed up that year (3.4 ypc) and basically got no playing time after that season and retired. CMC was good but stuck in Ron's doghouse for most the year and that was the first time Greg got hurt so we didn't really have him for most of the year either (he did play in the WC tho). Cam led the team in rushing too. Our 2017 team's offense was pretty much willed to respectability by Cam.

That 2017 team from an overall roster perspective left a lot to be desired, really just felt like a team carried by high end talent on both sides of the ball to me.

Pretty unbelievable that we've really only drafted and developed three legit starting NFL WRrs in Smitty, Moose, and DJ in 30 years. We average one a decade.

Not really.  Defensive minded head coaches are always focusing on the defense as that's their background.  They think defense first and offense second so more emphasis is in building a great defense. They would be perfectly happy to win a game 2-0.
