One thing is for sure. The folks who are hella sensitive and pooing posts about the size issue might as well buckle in because it isn't going anywhere and our rivals and opponents will be sure to let us know about it.

Exactly....and they won't think twice about laying the wood on that kid if they can. There is no honor in this, when you step on the field its war. Rattling him will be at the top of every scouting report.

If I was an opposing Defense I'd love to play a team that can only operate out of shotgun and can't launch the ball more than 50 yards

I was originally a Stroud guy.  But recently I have been watching a bunch of BY tape.  I will says this.  He will be exciting as poo to watch and have some unbelievable plays.  But I will cringe every time he gets sacked.

If he can stay healthy he will be great.

I also think then Panthers know who they are taking. With the OC Brown building the playbook you would have to know who you are building it around.  Maybe he is just in the beginning stages and just adding the plays that are universal.  But to but it completely the playbook will look different for BY than CJ.

And that’s the thing.

Its about as known now that Houston is as interested in Stroud at 2 as we are Levis at 1.  They have their eyes on Bryce if it’s a QB.  If they call and seem willing again.  That means that there’s a strong chance We take Stroud regardless at 1.   Also if we wanted Bryce, it would take a LOT to get us to move off the top QB on our board after what we gave up to get there.  And what they’d have to offer, the reality is, they won’t give that much to move 1 spot to 1.

We're going in circles here, so this will be my last.

I do not know what the price will be to move back a spot.  That will depend on how in love the Panthers are in one guy vs. the other and how much Houston wants a particular guy.

Houston may be perfectly fine taking Stroud after seeing us take Young.

But if Houston feels strongly about one or the other, then they will call us to see what the price is.  If we are willing to move back, it does not mean we are settling for the second best guy, or that we will not get our first choice, whoever that is.  It simply means we are ok with either guy plus the compensation we get from Houston.  Its not emotional.  Its just a transaction. And who knows, we may still end up with our favorite guy plus some extra compensation.

And the fact we traded so much to get to 1 is irrelevant here.  That was simply the price to get one of the top two guys.  Trading to 2 was out of the question.  We knew we wanted one of Young or Stroud so trading to 1 was the only option we had.  Doesn't mean we liked one more than other, it was simply our only option to enter the game.

You are one of my favorite posters on this site, but I can't keep posting the same poo over and over.  If we end up moving back, maybe we can continue this conversation.

Cheers.

This is why we should not have moved up. Neither guy is going to provide the value you expect at the top of the heap.

I mean, if they are having issues with Stroud? Then they moved up to take a point guard/qb without the arm strength, without experience under center, that has to go way back in that gun to throw 30 yards downfield, he needs a running start to get something on it.
You’re gonna see.

I bet the the defense in the NFC S are licking their chops.

You have to ask yourself this question, if Bryce Young is the unmistakably better QB, why are the Texans cool with waiting and taking Stroud?  If Washington could have moved up to take Andrew Luck back in 2012, they would have done that with all their heart and soul.  Carolina would be an absolute fool to not take CJ Stroud.

    • What?!?!?! Chark's 1,000 yard season was 4 years before he played for us and he only had 525 yards in 15 games as our #1 WR.  Dude has 3,100 yards in 7 seasons, he's the literal definition of a JAG and you think he is better than half our current WR room? T-Mac is literally already better than Chark was at his peak, which again, was years before he ever even put on a Panthers uniform, and there is a real argument to be made that XL and Coker were both better as rookies than Chark was for us in his one season here.
    • Im glad we're starting low. It's nonsensical to put us at 28 IMHO based on objective things IMHO (I think 21-24) is far more appropriate but whatever. Washington was at the bottom last year FWIW.  In 2003, Sports Illustrated said our best chance to win the division was to transfer to the ACC. In 2015, everyone wrote us off as a team that snuck into the playoffs with a losing record in 2014 and lost our best WR in TC (Kelvin Benjamin). All these videos are fodder for conversation, but this prediction has no more validity than saying the Panthers are making the SB bc we're starting the season against the Jaguars again. If Bryce plays like he did down the stretch we will end up the season just fine. This roster is much better than it has been the last 2 seasons. No one knows who any season will ultimately end up, but this team is finally being built in the right way, and the idea that this roster can't compete this year is as insane as being it was when we were gaslit in 2023 that we were a rookie QB from winning the division with that roster.
