At 6'7" 270 Darnell Washington is built more like an offensive lineman and would be a great blocking TE but i feel he would be limited as a receiving TE. I personally view him as a 3rd Rd type player.

I hope every other teams views it that way as well. He has good hands and can catch. He just was thrown to very often.  He could be a beast in the nfl.

Damn, I forgot about that Greek God. So wanted him to be as good as he looks.

I’d love Washington, but this feels like a Cowboys/Saints pick at the end of the first. UGH

That body allowed him to play NFL TE........and he wasnt a TE or didnt have any the skills. Not bad overall. I think he lasted about 8 years, if hes smart with $$$$, hes beyond set for life.

washington, what a beast. My worries are production, you can excuse me all the "coach didnt use him right, offense not TE friendly, balah ablah" . He didnt stack the stats like he did the pancakes..

If I had some team in a division full of prime edge guys, Id take him in the late first.

I appear to be in the minority so bring on the poo. No way am I wasting a 39th pick on a guy y’all are calling a tackle who can catch. Is that appealing on the goalline? Yea sure I guess. Throughout an entire game? No. Taking TE‘s early already doesn’t pan out a lot. Would much rather spend this pick on a position that will contribute far more throughout a game.

There's nothing sneaky about it. This is the best TE class in years.

Yeah sneaky was a poor choice of words. I guess I'm just amazed at how little this TE class is being talked about in national circles.

What’s makes him interesting is that his floor is ELITE blocking TE.

The issue is, that might be his ceiling though too.

But let me tell you, he’s such an amazing blocker that if he develops average route running/pass catching, he’s not a bust in the 2nd round.

I know he tests well, but the question (for me) is whether his change of direction will ever be good enough at his size to get any type of separation, and if that’s the case, he would need great hands to make up for it. Great hands at his size is a weapon, defender on him or not.

    • Another thread where the Huddle melts down over a Bryce comment.  "Conversations" and "Bryce Young has been signed to a new long-term contract" are still far away from being the gospel.  For a fanbase that has watched two top-3 drafted QBs come here, and us move on, only to see them elevate their play elsewhere, I find it comical. Bryce is flawed but this org is damned if you do and damned if you don't with BY9.  Why would our GM and HC say anything other than supportive about their QB1. Yes, he's extended, but I truly do not think if he goes out and has a repeat of the previous seasons, that he is here beyond 2027. They're giving him every opportunity and surrounding him with a ridiculous amount of assets on both sides of the ball. If he continues to pitch 110 yd/ game and cough up the ball while everyone else is busting their ass, no way Dan keeps him beyond the extension.
    • Ooof, I was not a Proctor fan. I agree w/ a lot of smarter folks than me that he's more of a guard and think his weight fluctuation is going to be something to navigate. I liked Lomu a lot, but figured there would be more talented guys there at 19. I also wasn't big on bringing in a TE via the draft. If it's not a vet (Njoku) or a trade for Mayer or Kmet, I'd just as soon see what the youngsters have. No need cluttering the room with more of the same.
    • Sam Darnold & Bryce Young are two very different Qbs ..just saying the last 25 years approximately 2/3 of ALL  first round Qb's  in the NFL were or are bust.so for everyone who makes it like a Sam Darnold you have two that don't make it or are a bust
