Notable players that can be signed tomorrow without counting towards comp pick formulas

Sign an EDGE and a CB and let's head to camp!

Also, Kareem Hunt at a bargain is tempting.  Sanders, Hunt, and Chuba would be great.

Leonard Fournette is also out there also.

I think RB will be a later signing if at all to see how these guys perform in camp.

I could also see us waiting on CB, but I do hope we add an EDGE before camp.

Offensive linemen, not much needing to be said.  Need some more bodies.  Competition and perimeter lengthy-uglies are required.

Biggest otherwise, I think a dude capable of playing on an island as an outside CB is the absolute biggest need given Horn & Jackson's "availability" the past 2 seasons.  The second one of them is missing time, which seems likely, we've got CJ & Taylor, & STO.  Rowe isn't really an outside corner and let's be real, Wright will be a long shot.

So.. definitely could use a cornerback.

A bit against the grain, but I think we should be patient with the edge defenders and assess how these guys we have are transitioning first. But if Burns is legit missing practice/field work, then probably bring in a vet.

Also think a RB add may make more sense come cut season, but not now.

Hunt would be a nice one to have, but he does a lot of similar things that Sanders does.

I think Fournette would be a better complimentary piece to him and be the guy to come in when we need 1 or 2 yards for a first down.

I think we need a CB though, if we can get Peters at a decent number, I'd be all about that.

I'm pretty sure this is irrelevant for us. I doubt we are anywhere close to a comp pick. We signed way too many people and lost barely anyone of value. If we really wanted to sign one of these players we should've done it already before other teams who were waiting to protect their comp picks jump into the bidding.

    • Rico is 0%. I think we would really like to have Mays back but we have a value in mind and aren't willing to overspend. I think someone probably will so I think the odds are pretty low but not zero.
    • Damn I liked A'Shawn too. This is basically a heads up we're planning on cutting you move.  Robinson wasn't the best but I loved his attitude and effort on the field. He held that entire dline together when Brown went down iirc..granted we finished that season as the worst rushing defense in modern NFL history.  If Wharton would have performed up to atleast half of his salary last season, I'd feel a little better about it. We do need that cap space though.
    • 13. Carolina is coming. The Panthers are well thought of around the league. Their "process" seems sound. I think their off-season will be very interesting to keep an eye on. They made the playoffs, but they're not yet knocking on the door. (Offense was 26th in EPA/play.) I think it's imperative they don't overestimate where they are in their build. They can't throw a ton of money around in FA to "make a run now". They need to be intentional about building a solid foundation. (IMO) And from what I know about the team... I think they will be. Sidenote: I have my eye on offense there, not defense. They HAVE to leave next season with a strong opinion on Bryce Young. They need to put pieces around him to do that. Can't be left wondering what he would have looked like with "better OL play" or "more pass catchers". They have to know. (That part is purely my opinion. No one told me that.) https://x.com/lindsay_rhodes/status/2027212533417869499?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
