Exactly this. Some folks let "sports" affect their mood and life to a point its worrisome and some might argue in need of mental help.

It took me having kids to get there honestly but when you can’t even watch the games it really does set the priority of things. I won’t say I’m not disappointed in the performance of the team overall since David Tepper purchased the franchise but I can’t control literally anything about it. Might as well just continue watching it like a slow motion car wreck.

GOAT is just saying out loud what most fans of the Panthers think whether we want to admit it or not …there are always the few posters on here  who like to be ‘above the fray’  and analytical.   More power to them but ‘analytical’  doesn’t sale tickets, or merchandise or commercials or create new fans

Fact is football is a sport of passion and skill and dominant personalities and hope

Too many seasons in their history, the Panthers have none of this

what they do have is seemingly to always be on the wrong side of the equation…whether it’s released,  or former players rubbing our nose in it, or our incompetence losing a Super Bowl, or the owner being removed for his behavior or a Wr contracting to kill his girlfriend or a wife (I think they were married) killing Fred Lane or Kevin Greene choking a coach or Greg Hardy with his guns or the on field being abysmal.

Watching all of this play out. year in and year out with a few good seasons,  is exhausting

…so here comes this year, fresh start, all star coaching staff, no 1 draft pick, and while no one should expect an instant turnaround, I don’t think anyone was expecting preseason to be this abysmal or the Panthers to be laughed at by the Jets for the world to see on Hard Knocks….surely they can look competent at something.

…that ‘hope thing’ you know….powerful drug…the NFL sells it and we buy it ..and the Panthers do what they do best with hope.

with the Panthers, I have no longer have expectations   I will always want them to do well but, I’ve started turning them off by first half these days

I'd hate to be a fan of the teams doing great this preseason. You have to remind them it's just preseason, the defenses you've been up against are vanilla and only running evaluation plays, and all the TDs you've seen and awesomeness from rookies is all BS ... so don't be excited. You hear me!?!? Don't be excited.

Maybe there’s something to it…the 6 teams that went undefeated in the preseason last year all missed the playoffs, including the teams who ended up earning the first and second in the 2023 draft. 5 out of the 6 teams who won no preseason games were in the playoffs with the exception being the Ron Rivera led Commanders.

Right? Baker looked solid and Willis looked NFL ready last year. People getting hyped about that were in for a let down. The 3 game preseasons have become even more meaningless with every team doing their own thing. I understand fans getting upset or concerned about individual (looking at you Icky) preseason performances, but fans writing off the whole season and staff I can’t help but laugh it at this point in the season. Could we have a bad year? Yes. Could we have a good year? Yes. Waaaay too early to tell.

This year we have people saying Bryce doesn't.

Yeah I don’t get that. Even with the bad OL play he looked like a decent rookie back there. Once we fix our OL he will look even better. I wouldn’t mind him getting more reps next week providing our OL is playing better.

No one likes a fan judge. That’s pointless and wastes everyone’s time. Don’t qualify who is a “fan” and who is not. That’s when the poo comes. Everyone coming online, consistently to a teams’s forum is obviously invested.

anyways…

Our partial 1st team offense has had what, like, 4 total drives?

The defense was missing 3 of its most important starters in the front 7 so of course they got gashed.

Not to mention we still have another preseason game to work some kinks out.

Jeeeeezus people.

Dont start drinking because of this team because your going to be an alcoholic. The starting offense has been one of if not the worst in preseason. The defense got worked by the Giants.

It sucks but this is a 3 to 5 win team. It will start quickly when we loose to the falcons by 10+ points. At least we have the bucs. Prepare yourself looking at the schedule 1-5 or 0-6 is a reality.

Now to talk about owners failures...nah..another time.

    • Yep. It was an obvious red flag that a lot of people ignored. The results/scores in preseason don’t matter, but individual performance very much does and individually, we looked like the least talented team in the league and it carried over.
    • Sorry, but in 2015, we didn’t look like poo to the extent of 2023. People who said it’s just preseason were completely wrong. Simple as that. 2015 was a veteran lead team. It was Cam’s 5th year and Luke’s 4th. Even our OL was 80% the same (added Oher) as the great run to finish 2014 with a playoff win. That year can be labeled as preseason doesn’t matter because I’m sure we rested vets and well, Ron/Mike weren’t putting in special plays, etc. I absolutely don’t recall a bunch of us saying that Turner was getting killed on one on ones or that Luke was completely out of position or that Norman was hurt again but probably fine. The only thing that was right about the 2023 preseason is that the minority of us who saw it, were correct that we A) should have been making Young and others play 100% of the reps as there was nothing to hide and B) the preseason means nothing was a bunch of BS trying to stay optimistic when it was obvious that we had way less good talent than the rest of the NFL.
    • You are telling me Paul Maurice is a better coach than Rod??? Yes!!!  It’s because he plays a better system and has a better goalie.   Our system sucks in playoffs and he refuses to roll with Koochie. Dallas cowboys level poo
