Say this Bryce thing doesn't work out... how far back is the Franchise set?

Say we traded up and we drafted *insert qb name* and it doesn't work out, how far are we set back should have been asked before the offseason.  This is how that works. You take a shot, just like everyone was screaming for and you live with it.  You won't know until you know. It certainly isn't the first damn game of the season you dolt.

Bryce will be known by the end of the year for good or bad because he isn't a project QB.

If it's bad, just fire the staff/GM and start over. If a QB Guru HC can't pick a good QB then you also need a new coaching staff and no they shouldn't get another swing if that is how it plays out. Honestly I think the fans turn on them again if Bryce isn't it well before the end of the season. It's been ugly here for years and fair was never part of any of this.

The craziest part of this sub is that the Falcon fans at the game were honestly all very favorable about how Young looked, almost everyone agreed he looks like he will be the best QB in the division after some time to get used to the NFL. If you go and look at his picks the safety is just jumping the routes, thats an easy fix. Call better game plans during the game or look off the safety.

Here is the deal Bryce is Bryce.   He is attribute is his intellect.  He doesn't have a rocket arm, can't run a 4.2 40 and isn't 6'3 245.  Neither was Peyton or Eli or a poo ton of other QB's.  Is he the answer we will see. He is who the organization hitched their wagon to.  I am not a Bryce fan but damn I want him to prove me wrong.  He didn't look bad week 1, better than most rookie qb's.   Lets all chill!  give him time and lets see where this goes.  Still think this division is up for grabs and hopefully Bryce and staff only get better.

You're kidding yourself if you think Peyton and Eli wouldn't have both gone #1 overall this year. Eli had elite physical tools and Peyton had everything you want except mobility.

If the team already is terrible, it doesn't set them back at all! I mean the Browns have had 4 winning seasons since 1990. We have still have a ways to go to catch up.

Panthers have 7 winning seasons since 95. And 3 tied, 8-8. Its better, but not good. 😅

I truly can't tell if some of you are trolling or not.

If you aren't and this thread is serious, my God you are a dumbass.

It was his first game in a hostile stadium after having limited preseason snaps with the best receiver on the team being a rookie, a middling TE and a mediocre RB corps where the best player put the ball on the ground.

WTF are some of you expecting?

There is a sizable portion of this fan base that didn’t want Bryce. They’ve been silent all off season and have been waiting for a less than stellar performance to say I told you so.

    • This is gonna be longest six weeks ever
    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
